just thought it would be a neat idea if someone could start a thread with only pics and info on home mods. write-ups wouldn't have to be included but a link to one would be nice if it is available. if someone likes the idea, start it up!
Me and a friend of mine made the fiberglass work! It took us over 60 working ours to finish what you see! Fiberglass work is not a lot of fun, in some stages "especially sanding" i hated myself. After all i can tell from your feedback it's worth the hassle. As i said before it's not finished yet. I'm taking a small break as i'm busy with work, and soon i will continue what i started. Hope you guys will like it when it's done.
P.s. To the moderators: I wonder why i can't post pictures from my PC, i have lots of info to share with everyone.
The back tire is just photoshopped in at the moment, correct? The work looks very nice & unique so far, good job - it's nice to see something different out there.
Yes, the tire and the stacks are photoshoped! Just wanted to see how the jeep will look like. If i do this, the only issue would be the storage space. Thank you for the nice comments
This is how it all started! I made an accident, so i broke my hard top and rear glass. Decided not to repair or replace the parts. since my first car was a wrangler and i still drive one, i wanted to change something about wranglers maybe the looks . So i grapped my grinder and started chopping it off! Yes, owww i had to be strong and fast so i don't change my mind. Now the most important step was done "Hardtop in pieces finally" and i sold both rear side windows for good money.
It looked fine so the next stage kicked in! The deck has to be covered. We cut an MDF piece and build on it. It's amazing what you can do with fiberglass.
So, I'm no longer a Jeep virgin, since I bought my very first one in December. And with a wife and two kids, the money for modifications is going to come in slow. So I started with something simple: homemade discos. I took my time, had fun, and ended up with a nice 12mm bolt, slightly snugged down with a wingnut (it's my daily driver, so I'm trying to minimize rattling), kept on by a 3/8" linch pin through a hole drilled in the bolt. Can't wait to try them out on the trail..........:2thumbsup:
Max, Great man.
So When I start will drop you a PM for some info.
Meanwhile i think about cuting some plastic and having that part of the back windows that you have covered. Bit concerned with getting big black spot there. And with all these crazy drivers here I would like to keep this one to minimum.
you def need the diesel and some bigger injectors to but some nice black smoke out of those stacks. i love the design, truly original! Do you have a build thread? If not you should start one!
I made a Window bag for my windows today. Got some black felt cloth at walmart and used this heat-n-bond iron on stitch stuff to put it all together. Worked great, cost about 10 bucks for everything.
Nothing too amazing... I made these to replace the pulls on all the tops zippers... Sometimes its a pain pulling on those little tabs.. I dont have them installed yet. I will try and get them on it tonight and get some installed pics..
Really easy.. Its just stripped 550 cord.. I make a lot of different stuff out of it.. You can find 550/paracord at camping stores and Mil surplus places..
Here is a site with a ton of different stitches! http://www.boondoggleman.com
How did you end up making enough room for a two-din screen? All of the similar projects I've seen done in Wranglers (the forums at mp3car specialize in that stuff) require moving the HVAC controls to make enough room.
As for your project, the sides don't look completely straight (they bow a bit), but otherwise it looks amazing; you really need to make a write-up on how you did that, because it honestly looks like a solid piece, not one that's been modified.
Ah, I see it now. I don't think I could live without the center HVAC vents; I might live in SoCal, but considering where I can often be found driving around, it gets mighty hot in summer and mighty cold in winter (110°+/- to 0°+/-).
Yes, I did get rid of the center vents.. but I plugged off the vent hole, so now all the other vents blow that much harder... so no AC is really lost.
I have since tweaked this a little more.. the sides of the monitor aren't bowed anymore as I was just placing stuff in the console to figure it all out.
Plus my camera phone gives it a really weird look.. tends to be short and fisheyed.. lol.
Anyway, I took it all apart last night, sanded it down a little more to take care of the edges that were a little off, but for the most part it is done.. I just need to attach the monitor and I am done. (Although.. I am still looking to fill the bottom half of the bezel.. where the ash tray is and all.. it is still open)
Correct me if I am wrong, but if you unload the coil springs with one air bag in the middle(front and back). would that not mean that the heavier side would tilt and sag lower then the lighter side. There by putting you the driver in the drink if you do not have a passenger?
little intake mod today(credit to triple88a, i started from his design)
i can tell a difference before all you nay sayers pop in. not only the pickup, but it sounds different. before this i only had a cone filter clamped to the stock tube, this is 3" id. i think it cost around $50+/- for doing everything right.
(im chipped, exhaust, and 63mm bored throttle body on top of this)
wow looks good man you wana make me one :2thumbsup:
