OK, I stole the idea from the YJ forum but it's a great idea so let this thread be an inspiration for all of us doing mods, maintenance, or repairs to our TJ's! :D

Personally, I installed my trusty Uniden CB into my new Rubicon.

I'm already wondering what is the best kind of auxiliary lights to put on the front bumper. When I was going down the arroyo more light was definitely needed. Well, here we go...[/QUOTE]

Congrats on the new rig...of course pictures will be mandatory...:2thumbsup: . Also welcome to the forum...this is the best when it comes to Jeep info, can't go wrong here!! As for lights, you might consider a head light conversion/upgrade kit,,,, you will have good lighting all the time then with out adding any thing else. But auxilary lights are always welcome too....depends on which route and how much $$$$ you want to spend. Jeeps are good for draining your pockets....BUT DAMN WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! :cheers2:

Welcome NewMexico:cheers2: , just keep in mind that JEEP does stand for something Just Empty Every Pocket :) . And I agree with Jeep06, a headlight upgrade is always a good idea. Even if you upgrade to different factory style headlights, I have a set of Sylvania silverstars and they area great improvement over stock, and they're not too expensive, compared to other things you can do. And today I am going to try to mount my ammo cans in he back.

Having fun...

Just want to say hi to everyone here on the forum and simply drop a few lines. This is my first response to a topic. I am still relatively new to the Jeeping scene but I look forward to owning such a capable vehicle. Anyways, in response to the topic... I just installed a set of JKS Sway Bar Quicker Disconnects and a set of Riddler Differential covers. I can't wait to put them to good use.

I am still fairly new to the 4x4 scene so I could really use some leads on some good off-roading spots and clubs:cheers2: . Can anyone give me some good info on both these things? I live in Houston, Tx in the southeast part of town. Thanks.

Washed the engine! Just used the degreaser option on the DIY car wash. Rinsed with high pressure, applied degreaser, let sit for five minutes, rinsed with high pressure, repeated the process. Its still not all that clean, but at least I washed off about 10lbs of dried up mud water that was caked all over everything.

At its dirtiest

In the garage last night

Now

Now I can't wait to work on something and not have dried mud fall in my eyes and get all over my clothes.

put some flash new ARB diff covers on my D44 rear and D30 front...

very nice and - i love that the filler point is alot higher than standard... so when the diff is rotated when my new TnT customs lift goes on - i can still fill it properly.

McGard Lug Nut Failure

Yesterday evening, just before dark, I noticed that the pin that is inserted into the swingarm of the rear bumper (Body Armor) was up about 1/2". This morning I checked it out; it was too tight to be forced back into position even with a fairly large hammer. Figuring that removing the spare tire would lower the weight on the arm I tried to remove the spare. The McGard lock nut literally sheared off when I used the key in a four way lug wrench! I've never seen that before - the lug nut was rusted clear through.

After liberal doses of penetrating oil, and notching the remaining part of the lug nut with a cold chisel I was able to get enough of a grip with vicegrips and unscrew the remains of the lug nut.

Once I had that piece off the other two standard lug nuts were easily removed, the spare came down and I was able to fully insert the pin back into the swing arm. (I took the opportunity for tightening the bumper up a bit. Nice and snug now, no rattles).

I'll be contacting McGard on this one...they aren't terrific for locking wheels, but do at least slow the thieves down - but the lousy things shouldn't rust in half in 18 months, even in Michigan weather.

Just finished installing 1.25 body lift kit. Wasn't too bad, had a little trouble with the fan shroud.

Got some pics of it today and put more on SmugMug: http://www.mears.smugmug.com/gallery/4157742#242714547. Good Jeep deserves a few good pics. When I can figure out how to take off the top without having a manual to go by I'll take some more.
