Any ideas anyone (see pics below). I've gone through the manual, couldn't find much... First pic is with the cover on it. Second pic is zoomed in without the cover.
Speaking of tow hooks, I looked around on a few Jeep parts sites - but can't find any stand alone "Screw in" tow hooks for the MK. Does anyone know of a part number?
The rear Tow Hook on the Patriot bolts on to the side of the frame with 2 bolts. No screw in type shown. You could probably just find the thread size and pitch and have one made up. Looking threw the parts book I did find listings for with and without "tow eye" and nothing specified Export or otherwise.
its export only spec. you see them alot on german cars... my roomie's bmw has one front and one rear, and theres a screw in hook located in her trunk emergency kit.
For those of you interested, I checked with the Service Dept at my dealership, and they actually had a spare "Tow Eye" hook they gave to me for free. We checked it was the correct thread, and sure it enough it is.
This however is not what I was after. I wanted some recovery points at the front / rear for off roading. Same thats available on the Patriot FDII. I know there is another thread here on the forums in relation to this, in which I will ask more questions!!
thats odd... my Compass has those and I was wondering what they were for too. So tow hooks? I wonder why the "car" compass has them, and I wonder why some people say they don't?

Apparently the Tow "eye" hook comes with all Compass exported to Europe and Australia. It is used for general Towing - not for "recovery" in off road situations. I would not use the Tow Eye for connecting to a recovery strap or winch. I would only recommend a proper Tow Hook that is rated and attached appropriately to the frame of the Compass (same as on the Patriot FDII).
Can only wait till a kit is available, and approved by my dealer...

why they say that the Compass is a "car". I replaced my commuter car (323i BMW) with the compass and it is NO CAR. It is high off the ground and it feels like a truck n terms of "bigness". I guess if you are coming from a bigger SUV to the Compass you might think that, but drive a CAR for awhile then jump into the Compass.
both my patriot and cherokee are listed as "station wagons" on the registration.
personally I consider the cherokee more of a truck and the patriot more of a car but they can call it whatever they want as long as my insurance is lower
my 07 non trail rated patriot does not have that cutout and as far as I can tell theres nothing behind where it would be except an open end frame rail (no bolt hole). hard to tell as the rear bumper is packed with snow from me bombing around in the 12" of snow in the back yard trying to get it stuck.
