ZJ Winch Bumper build PICS

A buddy of mine knew I wanted to put a winch on my ZJ and he was nice enough to donate a Ramsey 9000lb winch to me, but now I had to have a place to put it  .
I kind of needed to take a break from the build so here are some pic's so far, I am planning on connecting the bumper to my Kevin's radiator support for added strength and putting expanded metal across underneath to protect the radiator further. The push bar I got from a flea market for $20 so I figured why not add it on, I left it forward for easy winch access and so I wouldn't have any concerns while I am pushing gates open at the camp or farm.

I am waiting for my roller fairlead to get here to cut out for the winch cable, no I didn't forget LOL.

I have not decided which to deck the top with yet, I have 1/8" flat plate here but I am thinking of using diamond plate or even using a polished aluminum diamond plate, any thoughts as to which to use?

Right now it weighs in around 80 lbs guessing without the winch. I'll be figuring the exact weight once I am done, I am trying to keep it as light as possible but to still be strong enough to use it and not worry. I am thinking of doing some bolt on wrap around headlight/fender protection, think it would be too much? LOL

THANKS, I think I agree with the DP top. I haven't really been keeping time, been working on it off & on for about a week and a half ( when I can ).
Got the fairlead today and hope to get it and the winch mounted this weekend sometime.

Looks great. I'm still collecting steel for my project. What size c channel did you use to mount to the frame? And did you use 1/4 or 1/8 for the bumper? Good job on the project and thank you for posting the pics.

I used 4" to mount to the frame ( fits great ) and also used the 4" for the main "frame" of the bumper, The plating is with 2 & 3 x 3/16. The ONE thing I wish I had done different is, for the mounts to the frame I should have built the mounting nuts either into the channel or at least had them mounted to their own piece of steel so they could not turn ( them I wouldn't need a wrench in there LOL ) before it is all said & done this will happen though, just wish I had thought about it before when it was easier to do. :brickwall

Yup, that was kind of intentional, don't do any rock climbing here in Florida  pushing stuff yes, rock climbing no
