Need some wrenching help, in Hayward

So this is our new forum, eh? Nice.

Anyway I've got a ton of stuff to put on my jeep and have recently come to the conclusion that I'm out of my freaking mind if I think I'll be able to do this by myself.

Anyone in or around the Hayward area that wants to help out? More then willing to return the favor. I've got tools, a welder, and lots of beer

Project I'm looking to do is putting on my Clayton LA, SYE/CV driveshaft, steering, brakes, etc. Fun part is that it's my daily driver so trying to plan around weekends.

I'll be moving up some time Mid-November, so if your still wrenching away...I'll be around willing to help. Not the best wrench and I suck at welding but I make a great gopher.

Not entirely sure how you are going to pull off spreading a Clayton install over multiple weekends and still keep the dd status. I'm thinking it's possible...it will be a site to see.

Gawd I hope I'll be done by then, but you never know...

I plan on doing the welding, I'm alright at about everything but overhead at this point. I usually test stuff by making a test run, putting it in the vise and whaling on it with a big hammer for a bit

Hey Wil, I'd be willing to give you a hand. I'm free this Thurs, Fri night. Next two weekends are booked but I'm free the 27,28.
I've have some LCA skids that need welded on my rig, so maybe you can help me out on that too.
Actually the 27-28th is when I would have liked to start originally so that might work out perfectly. Room will be done and I will finally have some time. And good news for you I just finally got my over-head welding down just last night

I have welding class on Thursday but if you're itching to we can do your LCA skids on Friday night. I don't claim to be a certified welder but I can get 'er done, or if you know what you're doing you're more then welcome.

Yea, I'll take you up on that. I'm going to run Fordyce next week and since its gonna be bashing rocks it don't have to be pretty ya know
I'll bring some beer:cheers2: and I'll give you a hand the weekend of the 27th too.....
PM me your # and I'll give you a call Friday. Thanks!

Taking classes at Chabot, yes. I can walk there, and sometimes do, so it makes a lot of sense :)

The class has a lot of gear, so it's kinda fun. Most of the students are taking the class because their union or job is paying for it, actually everyone except one guy that I caught up to in passing that was repairing the sheet metal of his Cherokee. Different class so I haven't run into him again

Instructor is borderline too lax, but then again they have all kinds of stuff to play with. Plasmas, torches, mig, tig, flux, stick, computer operated stuff, all kinds of steel, stainless, aluminum, etc, etc. Would I recommend it? Hell yea! Will I ever pass a written test? Probably not!

So it's looking like the weekend of the 27th is out. Wife has some stuff planned that I had apparently forgotten about... I swear my lift is going to rust apart before it ever even sees my Jeep

So far I've got the BL and MML in, and the crossmember that supports the skid. Looking like next available is the weekend of the 4th or 11th, rain permitting of course...

I started this project solo today figuring "how hard can it be?"

Ha, son of a biscuit! I'm an idiot.

Got the thing in the garage, got it on stilts and got the front passenger upper and lower control arms on. Started on the drivers side, probably about half way with that one.

Anyway if anyone still has some time I would be much obliged. Those control arms can get pretty heavy

Ahh...just wait till you get to the fun involved with the rear...it's actaully not that bad. I've canceled on some buddies that wanted me to go to JV for new years, so I'm free into the beginning of next week. Give me a call
