Ok, back in the Grand Cherokee forum, there were some pics of a trail run a fellow Colorado Jeeper went on recently. Imediately he got 3 or 4 responses from other Colorado Jeepers, to let them know next time he goes up, because we all wanted to go. I say, we unite somehow, and let other Colo Jeepers know when a trail run is imminant. I mean, we all know just how many trails there are in Colo. Easy ones, hard ones, long ones short ones (I'm talking about 4x4 trails guys come on, keep your mind out of the gutter) etc. Theres pretty much something for everyone here, and maybe we could start a "Colorado Jeep Club Member #X" or whatever, to kind of "identify" ourselves, so we know who to let know of upcoming trail runs.
Basically imagine the two arms that go from the rocker tube to the inner frame rail. Those are a two piece arm. One is the bracket which bolts to the frame rail and the other piece is the slider. Each arm/bracket is held together with 2 bolts. So not only when you mount the bracket do you have to get the width right so the arms & brackets match up, but you'll have to cross drill through the arm/brackets to fit in the 2 bolts.
Ohhhh...now I get it. Do you have to use a jack or something to maintain pressure against the pinch? Drilling through round tube has to bring the suck.
Yeah jack to keep it up there. Drilling through the round isn't too bad since the arm already has been drilled so the bracket is the only thing that needs to be drilled though.
Ahhh...gotcha. I guess I was thinking you needed to support it vertically, as well as push it out so that it's pressed against the pinch weld. Floor jack holding it up, bottle jack pushing it outward?
thats the part that is optional to weld. Im glad my buddy has a welder cuz just drilling through the unibody we went through 3 drill bits. note to self - pilot point drill bits aren't good for drilling into unibody
A good drill bit should last for the entire install...get a crappy one and there is a good chance it'll never make it through the thin sheet metal:laugh:
I have had great experiences with the new Black & Decker black and gold drill bits. They advertise to drill 30% faster than a normal bit and I would say that it is a pretty accurate claim. I've drilled through my tub several times now on the same bits, where as my Riobi bits would occasionally break drilling through wood.
Are you guys starting with a small bit and working up to a larger one? I have used some of my bits many, many times. There are 24 holes through 1/4" plate just on my boat-side rockers alone. I have a drill doctor if anyone needs to shaper a set. I got it for a present and haven't really got to use it yet.
Yeah we're using a 1/8" bit and then either up to a 5/16" or 3/8" bit depending on the hole we're drilling. Haven't had any problems doing it this way (Dewalt bits).
awsome, i hope everything goes swell and i leave with both sliders on! We should definetly keep the flages on the frame and drill the holes from there.

My KOR steering brace just isn't gonna work :crying:
Per Kevin's instructions to me, I dremmeled out the holes so they'd be wider, but my steering box is about 1/4" away from the support part of the bracket, and it also interferes with my tranny cooler line
Dang it, I was really hoping to get that in :brickwall
Waiting for word from Kevin to see what I need to do, I have full confidence that he'll take care of me with flying colors.

Didn't even realize you picked one up. So what's the problem exactly? How's it interfere w/the tranny cooler line?
Hope he does you right!
