Random shutdown

I thought my '93 had a bad connector on the crank sensor wire that caused it to shut down randomly but now I'm not so sure. Used to wiggle the connection and it would start right up but yesterday I just had to cycle the ignition and it restarted. Shut down three times yesterday within three miles, then ran fine for the last four miles home.

Any thoughts on what could be going on?

Start by getting that grease out of the connector... Unless you saw the connections where nice and clean and brass colored then you could have issue there..
I use brake clean to clear it.. Then since you say wiggling the wire works then the issue is within that area.. termination point is just a place you can follow back to.... Not start.

Ugh, my post was deleted because I lost internet for a second. I like the actual electronics cleaners rather than the carb cleaners, but I also use it on integrated circuits and circuit boards. Carb cleaner may be ok for your application as suggested above.

Summary: Use dielectric grease, not lithium grease. Either buy a copule tiny tiny condom packets of it next to the cash register at Autozone, or buy the big hulking bottle of it. The small bottles are way over priced.

The little packets are about a buck a piece. Its not a bad idea to buy one of every type. For $10 bucks you suddenly have a really good remote break down grease kit for every occasion.

The terminals at the ECU connector related to CPS will be labeled in the factory service manual. You can probe the two ends to look for continuity of the entire wiring harness.
