SO i go pulled over because of my exhaust, i have the exhaust kit from rustys with the flowmaster 40. The tickets for 100 because of excessive noise when im driving. Im obviously gonna appeal it, now what are somethings i should bring up, just pretty much that it is a muffler i still have a working cat, therefor its legal.
What is some good stuff i should bring up?

oh BTW i live in mass.

When I was 16 and got tickets all the time I had to think that cops were just doing their job. I hear all these stories and Im like wow these cops must not have anything to do ever. In west palm if youre not shooting someone or running people over cops dont care what you do

a couple of nights ago, the cops decided to pull me over because i was "riding the double yellow down the whole street." he then proceeded to illegally search my car after i stated that he should not search it. his reason was, i smell reefer. depending on the judge it would have been thrown out, but lucky for me, he just tossed what i had in the car and gave me a written warning...

as i was walking back to my car, he said to me: "ive seen your jeep around, so watch it."

(i live down the street)

So He didnt find your stash eh?

The only ticket i ever got was for speeding 45 in a 30. I was in a unknown town and there was ALOT of traffic (7 lane road) I was in the wrong lane so i sped up to get were i needed to be....It was my fault.....The cop was a *******, but he only wrote it for 5 over which was good because 15 over is recless driving and a loss of liences. (even tho i was 15 and only had a permit) I just paid it and let it go, There was no point in fighting it, I broke the law and got caught.

Now at almost 18 my insurance is terrable, Like 2 grand a year or maybe a little more. But it will only stay 3 years so it should be off my record soon

You were smoking reefer or under the influence while driving, I would have dragged you out in to the middle of the road and shot you like a dog.

thats why i hate MA. ive only gotten a written warning for a 40 in a 30, so my record is clean. my insurance is 2100 a year, and i only figgen paid 2300 for my jeep. thats without collision. what a ripoff.

i have an exhuast cutout right off the downpipe and haven't gor pulled over and thats pretty rediculous

ha i have my 4.0l yj straigt piped and i got pulled over by a cop on a motorcycle the other day for my tires sticking out too far he didn't even say anything about my exhaust but i live in canada so probs different rules

but take it to court for sure
maybe you can get a letter from flowmaster saying that it is street legal.

ask for the decibel reading on whatever machine he used to check the noise level. no cop has that but they need that to write you for a sound ordinance

I got pulled over at 6 in the morning because they thought I was drunk. I was in my scrubs headed down to work at the hospital. ( and he asked me where I was going.. wow right?) They pulled me over because "I was driving like a drunk". I've got parkinsons and that sure didn't help me when I had to walk on the straight line. They cuffed me and threw me in the back seat. Five minutes later I was let free. No breathalizer. I guess because I drive a big black truck and have a mustache means I'm bad right? I wave the bird to those guys under my steering wheel. I hate those guys.

I am a cop and sound meters are required for sound violations. But a muffler violation, atleast where I work in RI, is a different animal all together. The muffler statute rigl 31-23-13 states "any vehicle operated in the state of rhode island that has ANY modification to the exhaust system that causes the exhaust note to be LOUDER or HIGHER PITCHED or causes excessive smoke is a violation". just an fyi...

Also, comments like "wave the bird to those guys" and "burn his house down"... Is that kinda stuff really necessary. its called doing our job, I love modifying my vehicles and appreceate those who take pride in thier modified vehiles, jeeps or otherwise. But laws are laws, end of story. You dont want tickets then dont have your vehicle in violation of the law simple as that. If you get caught and get a ticket its not the cops fault, personal accountability for your vehicle has to step in at some point...

A fax machine does it's job. A photocopier does it's job. A human being has the ability to use discretion.

"Just doing our job" was the #1 excuse at the Nuremberg trials.

I didn't read the entire thread so forgive me if this has been said already. If the officer did not measure the sound level with a calibrated measurement device he can not write you a ticket for a sound ordinance violation. He ear is not a calibrated measurement device.

Discretion can be applied to modifying your vehicle as well. Use discretion when putting aftermarket items on your vehicle and police interaction can be avoided all together. Or dont, get stopped, get a ticket and blame the officer for not using his/her discretion.. Again it comes down to being accountable for your own vehicle and your own choices. Oh and Nuremberg trial nazi reference.. Really? You can always tell the people who have gotten or deserve to get a ticket.
