i am really interested in getting the tera low 4:1 but am worried about the weak front axle i have. just wondering if anyone has this set up and if they ran into problems. I'm looking to install a danna 44 in the front, but i don't have the money to do them both right now. thanks.
There will be no problems with the setup you describe, the D30 will do just fine. I installed the Tera 4:1 and an Aussie up front and run 32's as well with nary a problem. Consider getting the Tera 2lo kit and installing that when you do the 4:1. As a side note, call sams4x4 for their price on the 4:1. Last I saw it was $729 delivered.
I've got the terra low 4:1 mod planned for May; I've not really though about the 2-lo..but it sounds like a good idea..I'll need to research it a little, but I'll probably go with it also..
I've heard good things about Sam's; I know they've been around a long time..they're located in Tulsa, OK.
I'll probably give them a try sometime; I just got a price from DC4WD; he's a vendor on this site; his price was the same as above; he's been great to deal with so far..
i will be running 33 x 12.50 mickey thompson baja claws, with a RE 3.5" SF lift, i talked to dc at DC4wd.com and he was saying that once i lift my jeep, i'll notice a reduction in power, when i go wheeling, i'll really notice it since i have the stock transfer case with the sye and cv driveshaft...also...how hard is the install for the tera 4:1 low...does anyone know of any threads, write ups, or "how to" videos.

keep this in your favorites. If you ever think about doing something sweet to your jeep, im sure Stu has a write up! Ill be following his write up along with another to do it this summer
what about a Rubi 241 t-case? does anyone know what changes would need to be made for this install? shaft length, SYE? if this bolts right up, wouldnt it make sense to try and fin one of these? oh but it doesnt have 2lo...just looking for cheaper alternatives
Instructions come with the kit, might also be on Tera's site to download. The toughest part of the job is getting the t-case out and in, and thats just bolts. Doing the 4:1 on a bench is cake.
That's it. But there website, last I checked, routes you off to something other than the 4:1 kit when you click on it. They were going to check with their webguy to get that fixed. I called and verified the price, it is $729 shipped for them blem and $829 shipped for the regular. About the cheapest around. I got the blem about a year ago and can't tell what was blemished on it. Like JeeperDon said the hardest part was removing and installing the case from the Jeep. Just place it on your chest and raise it back up in, align, and start your bolts. Not difficult, just, well you'll find out.
I runt he 4:1 with a D30 up front and 35" tires. Have been doing so for quite some time. I do have 4.88's and a detroit as well as a terflex high steer knuckle.
I have had no problems with the axle associated with the 4:1. I am sure you will probably run into vacum problems assuming you do not have a posi lock unit.
sweet...just did my sye install and cv drive shaft this wednessday, took 4 1/2 hours. Was fairly easy, except for the pick up tube that was a PIA. I'm guessing after this, the tera 4:1 has to be comparable in dificulty. I followed the write up on 4x4xplor.com and it was very helpful.

The 241 out of the Rubi is a relly good idea if you did not have money into your 231 already. I have found 241's for about the same price as the 4:1 low kit, and you also get a stronger case (than the 231).
what about the different size yokes on the 241? is there different size yokes I can put on one to allow me to use my original driveshafts?
I emailed Advanced adpaters and they said they will be making a 2LO kit for the 241 just didnt know when it would be in production. I would miss my 2LO if i put a RUbi case in my TJ.
im stoked just got a 4k mile old Rubicon 241 t-case off ebay. $750 and he is delivering it to me! cant wait! bye bye 2lo ....
