Saw this idea posted on here awhile back and decided to give it a shot today. I think it looks great and for $2.60 for (4) containers of country crock, it really can't be beat. I'm not sure how the krylon fusion paint is going to hold up, but worst case scenario I give it another shot in the future.

Yeah. These are just the butter tubs that you find at your local supermarket. I had read before about cutting off the upper lip, but these worked with out even having to cut them. I just cleaned them out, hit them 3 times with Krylon Fusion paint, and put them on.

Thanks. It was also fun explaining to the wife why there was a huge bowl of butter sitting in the fridge. I finally found the post where I got the idea from:

Cheap Center Caps

I have to admit that I read this thread with quite a bit of skepitcism....butter tubs as center caps?!
However, the pics show that it turned out quite well (in my opinion). I will be curious to see how long they last before the Fusion wears or chips off or if excess brake heat hurts them - keep us posted! Good job!

I hadn't thought about the brake heat and I'm not really sure how they are going to take to a New York winter, however for only a couple of bucks I had to give it a try. I plan on eventually getting real center caps, but I figure these will do for a while.

Dude, you're like butter... on a roll. Er? Maybe? Maybe more like...Dude you're rolling 'cause it IS butter.

Oh well. Cool idea. I'm in the same shape as you. I didn't get any center caps when I bought my rims used. I'll watch your future update. I might give it a try. Maybe a coat or two or clear might toughen it up? I'm no paint expert.

any problems yet?...falling off, melting, anything? I'm hoping to get my wheels for my birthday and want to do this.
No problems yet. Its been over (2) months and no real problems. A few scratches here and there, but nothing major.

Should have saved up $8.00 more and bought some real metal ones.

I gotta ask....What size of tub????? The 2 pak size??? I think it's a great idea. I got pissed when I had to replace a center cap on my Stleath.. Had to buy 4 and shipping $50.00 + ..:2thumbsup:

I like the idea.....I just ordered my wheels and quadratec wants $8.99 each so thats $36.00 plus $10 shipping for the center caps. I cant see paying that but the butter tubs seem good except for maybe the melting factor. Has anyone who has done this had the melting problem?:dunno:

Its going to take a lot of heat to melt them. Going on almost a year and still haven't had to replace any. And yes, I do wheel it. :)
