I've got a1979 cj7 AMC 304 with 31 x 10.5 tires.
my problem started suddenly after I drove through a relativly bumpy dirt road a few days ago. Almost right away my alternator started putting out 11 volts, and I had almost no power between 500 - 2500 rpm. I think I've fixed the alternator problem but all torque and HP are gone until about 2500rpm and then the thing takes off. It will take me atleast 1-2 minutes to get up to 35 miles an hour, and it has problems maintaining any speed uphill. I'm thinking my timing might have been knocked off a few degrees, but I'm not sure. I advanced the timing a few weeks ago and it ran better then it ever had, but now it doesn't seem to make a difference whether I floor it or give it 1/4 throttle. Anyone had any similar experiences or know what it could be?? Thanks
