hello everyone, I am considering adding a mk in my garage for my wife. I've been building wj's for years, and I really like the way the compass looks and yesterday i drove a 2.0 FWD 5 spd sport just for a test and I really enjoyed it. What we are looking at is the the Latitude or Limited model with the FD2 being that we are moving back to CO at the end of the year. I have seen that a lot of people didnt like the CVT trans that jeep used to use. Is the 14 model still running the same trans being that the FD2 is running the CVT with the low ratio? Also any other fore-warnings about the MK

Solid vehicle! Ive had my 2012 limited for over a year now and unless your planing on doing some semi/serious off roading, the fd1 option is fantastic on its own..ive gotten it out of every hole ive found myself in with just the fd1. Which now has an availble 6speed auto trans. The cvt is a little sluggish on the low end but theres defently a learning curve to get it where ya want it. The 2.4l tigershark engine is pretty much bullet proof with great fuel enconmy for the vehicle size and class. All around i love my lifted limited compass and got a great price for it! No bueyrs remorse here!

I would only get the FDII if you are doing some serious off roading. It makes the compass/patriot very capable off road, but at a pretty big MPG disadvantage. if you need a solid all weather vehicle, the FDI (or just standard 4x4 is fine) The FDII still has the cvt, while the 6 speed is the auto on the FDI. There is nothing wrong with the cvt, its a reliable smooth transmission. the problem lies with people 1) hating new things, and 2) refusing to get used to the cvt, as it does take a different driving style than a typical auto, but one that can be picked up in a few days of driving.

Check out my youtube channel in my sig for videos of what I consider to be serious off roading.
