Welcome aboard Senior Chief! My signature line says it all, but .... When I got to my first ship, the USS HALEAKALA (AE-25), homeported in Guam, and about 12 weeks out of boot camp and A school I met my first Chief. Walked up the ramp, turned aft half-way and saluted the flag, then continued up to the quarterdeck. Saluted, and since their was someone in Khaki standing there I saluted and said "Permission to come aboard, Sir!" In a gravelly voice I got this response: "Son! Don't call me sir, I knew who my Father was!" Last time I called a Chief Sir! No disrespect to any Officers, and truth to tell that particular Chief, and every Chief I ever worked for, or with all taught me something valuable. I got out in 1998 and I still miss the Navy every now and then.
i am a retred senior. i learned on my first deployment that when on liberty, the chiefs can tell you where to go and not get rolled, knifed ect... they have much to pass on.
Only E-2 right now, fresh out of boot a month ago. I'm at TSC across the street for training. Not gonna say what I'm training for, I don't need my mouth getting me in trouble. Ya never know who is crawling these forums. I know a couple of my instructors drive wranglers and Cherokees.
Welcome to the group, YoungGun. As you will see, there is not a lot going on with this group. If you happen to know GM1 Drake or MMCS Means, tell them that Paul Mata (MMC Retired) says hello. Good luck to you in your Navy journey.
Been on this forum for a long time, never seen this. AE2(AW) VR-56 NAS Oceana "In between Jeeps" at the moment Hopefully picking up a new to me jeep in the next few days

Navy CDR, joined in 1999. Started as a Medical Service Corps officer, now an HSL pilot. I'm currently in Millington, but I've spent plenty of time in San Diego.
1st Jeep: 1997 XJ Sport
2nd: 1979 CJ5, mostly duct tape held it together.
3rd: 2002 Liberty Limited, it was loaded and was also a big smelly load of ****
4th (current): 1983 CJ-7 Laredo, 4.0L conversion from a 1995 XJ Cherokee. Started a frame-off restoration in October of 2014. Back on the road in January 2015, but it's never really done!

MA2 2003-2007
2003-2005 NS Guam, where I did some awesome wheelin' in my 1995 YJ
2005-2007 NS Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
Had a 1995 YJ 4.0 6 Cyl while on Guam, it was an island Jeep (aka Guam Bomb) passed from one sailor to the next. It had a 4" lift, rusty floorboards which I fixed with lots of bondo, and a tendency to mysteriously empty it's radiator and overheat if I didn't watch the coolant levels carefully. It was a total beater, but I'd give up a lot to have it again.
I'm now in a 2005 TJ that I bought in 2014, no serious mods yet, it's a daily driver and light trail Jeep.
I served 8 years in the USN as a Hospital Corpsman, the majority of which I served with the USMC.
I served at Naval Health Clinic Great Lakes, 2nd Marine Division 3rd Battalion 8th Marines India Company, and Naval Hospital Pensacola.
I deployed twice to Afghanistan, once to the Upper Gereshk Valley and once to Marjah.
I bought both of my Jeeps after each deployment.
Been here a while but just found this club for some reason haha.
AME2(AW) Started at NAS Whidbey, deployed with VAQ 134 on CVN 77 as the LAST deployable EA-6B Prowler squad in naval history. (RIP)
Now I'm at NAS Lemoore, CA. It's stinky and hot, and F18Fs aren't as loud
