I am a new jeep owner. One week! I am an American in Germany and the winter is coming soon. The jeep has a soft top and I have no way of getting a hard top so far. Can anyone give me advice on how to prepare for driving the soft top in the snow and also how to help with noise reduction. Please. Thanks :2thumbsup:

I definitely could use some help with the noise reduction!
I just got my very first jeep :] a TJ!
Its so noisy on the highway (here in tx I go about 70 everywhere) that people dont wanna ride with me (I took the back seat out anyway, they can suck it)
But I would still like some relieve from the noise.
I like the idea of a prop, I'll have to look into that, any others??

If they can't enjoy it, they aren't people I want riding with me! Top off is even noisier! :p

As others said: keeping the windows up and running the fan/ac/heat, Thicker "Sailcloth" tops, and top props are your main options.

I am biased, my first jeep was a YJ with a very rough top. My 05 TJ with the sailcloth was like a dream to me.

Mine ballooned a little, but other than installing a better stereo, anytime I got above 65 it got loud. It seemed a lot better at 60 or less. A TJ is not the perfect highway cruiser. Not even with a hard top. I had both, and it was always a bit noisey.

I have a New 2014 JKU with the premium soft top, it is much better, but once you hit 70, the top noises increases a fair bit.

I drove mine with the side curtains out or top removed 80% of the time! but then again I live in Scottsdale, and you can do that a big part of the year.

We have the skid row one. It tightens the top so it has no play to flap.

We run a bikini top during the spring, summer and fall seasons for the surprise rain. We keep the prop on for that too. If hubby can find the link for the homemade version I will post it.

Thank you! Weather got the best of us and forgot to ask him.
