Alright, I've got to get this out. At my highschool, a few of us jeepers have a club. Ofcourse there are a few other vehicles too, a scout II, Z71,toyota etc. Well we are all good friends. 3 of the wranglers are lifted and so is the yota. There are also a few jeeps whose owners don't know they drive a jeep from a Jaguar. Well two weeks ago a senior that ive known for a few years, (used to drive a 2001 wrangler sport with 32 inch michlin alterains, no lift and more chrome stuff than you could poke a stick at.) drove to school in a 2003 wrangler x with a 6 inch pro comp lift, 3 inch body lift and 36 inch mastercraft tires. He sold the sport for an x first of all. second he got all this put on at the dealership. He still has the Dana 35. He also has a 2003 Range Rover. I've been working to pay off my 97 while going trail riding couple times a month. He just goes out and buys this jeep and drives it like it's nothin. He doesn't wave. And he asked to go muddin with us. Of course we said yeh, come on (really wanting to see this thing get muddy) Well, we all met up on saturday to go wheeling, turned out to be me and 3 other jeeps and the Z71. Well he shows up shiny as ever and tells us that he wants to ride with one of us, because he doesn't want to get it dirty. I just about died laughing. I let him ride with me, and everytime I went through a mudhole he was like "go faster", and "splash it on the window like they do on TV" we tried to explain that you can't do everything you see on TV. When we got back he said that his jeep could do anything mine could but better. I said maybe for a little while or until that little 35 dies. He shrugged it off and drove to school the next monday shiny as ever with even more chrome stuff, fake rocker guards, rear corners and so on. In study hall he told me that he was ready to get it dirty. We met up after school for a quick run. Me a stock yj and a Z71 all met in the parking lot, the guy pulls up and we head for the trail. We all try to keep the trails clean and don't tear them up more than we have to... Ok the guy stops in the first mudhole at the beginning of the trail and puts it in 4lo and 1st gear and sprays every body behind him. ( i was infront) His wheels then catch and he jerkes forward into a tree. Now he blames us for his damage. He totalled the fender, hood and grill. He came to school last monday, a week after that with a brand new lifted 2002 Z71. I tried to teach him the ways of jeepin, but i think it was a hopeless cause. Back to jeepin with the guys. (and girls) ol well... just had to share my story.. anyone else had a similar experience?

Some people are just not ment to be off roading in their vehicles. Sounds like a rich mommy and daddy like to buy their son, aka brat, anything he wants. I would just let it go and enjoy wheelin with those that understand.

messed up

that's really messed up, people like that really piss me off, some people just want to look like they take there vehicle everywhere, but the only "off-roading" was gravel, pretty obvious money is nothing to him, but at least I can say I earned mine, And everything I'm installing on mine I'm doing all the work and all repairs myself, I bet he doesn't even have an idea how to change the oil

Some people just aren't cut out to off road, they are to "pretty" to do that, afraid to get dirty. I love getting muddy in my Jeep and some people just don't see the real joy in wheeling, they get lifts and tires just because they think it looks cool, not because they actually want to go off roading. Oh well, I am with MaLix, just go out and enjoy wheeling with those who understand.

No you are not alone. I went to school with this guy who drove an Iroc Camaro and he thought he had the baddest car in town. But, he would'nt race ANYONE not even me, and all I had was a V6 Ford Ranger. This was the kind of guy who hated imports (his one good quality), and swore he could beat any of them out there. Now my friends, he has a freaking Eclipse with altezzas. He talks so much stuff about this car everyone I know wants to smack him. He wrecked the front end, and claimed he hit a sign doing 120+, then he spray painted the front end black (over spray everywhere) and claims that the black paint cost more than the car itself. To top it all off, he claims to have NOS, which he very well may, but he won't open his freaking hood. He said he'd race a friend of mine's sweet Monte Carlo, then backed out, becasue he did'nt want to embarras my friend. Whose response was open the hood and lets see if you can. Of course the guy refused to do so. What a weiner:mad:

I agree it is sad, but hey there might be one advantage to this. when these rich posseurs wreck their jeeps and run off and buy something new, there's a good chance for us true Jeepers to pick up a quick fix for cheap.
That hurts. I'm a "rich" kid, but am no way like this guy. I went from driving a brand new Explorer to convincing my parents to let me get a 1982 CJ7 that belched smoke at the time. I didn't want to be like the rest of the kids at my school, I wanted to have real world experience. That was why I got my Jeep.

However, the kid in this story is nothing like me. The whole point of owning a Jeep is to see how fast we break them isn't it? Maybe I'm wrong. I love to break mine then fix it again. If you're gonna own a Jeep, use it like it's a Jeep.

That's just my $0.02,
Marc

I don't drive mine to break it and then fix it. I don't mind a challenging trail and if I break something oh well - I guess I got to fix it. But, I don't start the day saying "what can I break today". Ha Ha! I know some guys do and to each his own. A lot of guys break axles and diffs and I think most of that can be avoided if common sense is used on the trail. Rather that break something, a winch or Hi-lift can be a great aid. Also, help from other jeepsters can save parts from breaking. Have fun.:D

This isnt really related.. but funny..well. kind of related..

a guy at my HS used to have a 5.0 mustang. u have all seen them. and he would race it. out at a track or where ever.the problem is, he tried to be a bad ***. we have a parking lot near our baseball field that everyone cuts through after school. all the fast cars smoke their tires runnin through there. me.. i drive through the grass. anyways, he gets on it one day and just doesnt let off .. at the end of the parking lot u can turn to get on the rd. or u can run into the baseball field. he just got carried away and waited to late to slow down. the guy went through a fence and right next to the bleachers.. HAHA. i feel kinda sorry for him.. everyone knew about it. one guy who was in the baseball field house ran out in nothin but his jock strap and cowboy boots just to laugh at the guy.!

just remember people are stupid ! at least most of them are.

there are times when I wish I had enough money (just out of no where) to do all the mods I want....but then again....when earning everything I mod, it gives you a better appreciation about what you have, and you understand that you can't just go out and tear up the woods and trees....you have to be cautious as well

I think earning you keep gives you a better appreciation of what you have, plus, as you build up, you understand your vehicle more and more, and you understand the limitations of it more clearly...
