The first things I did all took place in the first 2 hrs after agreeing to buy it. The worst visual issues:
dirt pounded into the rubber window seals and flares,
rubber trim was either hanging or missing
windows were literally frosted over w/ hard water stains
stock 225's
knicks and scratches in the paint and all the black trim (all black trim didn't really turn my crank either),
And the bee's, it had been sitting all summer and had 7 bee hives inside and out.
At this point, I had changed the tires and painted the grill.
I knew they got around there because my TJ has the 4.0 dang I was crossing my fingers praying somehow they got better. Im actually thinking about getting a patriot. I would keep the TJ and CJ. It would be a family vehicle.
You never know bud. One the Jeeps in Hel that's my favorite to see is a black Commander on 31's. It looks really good. The patriot is like a mini Commander. But the color of the rig means alot to me too. You could have the most rigged up Jeep, but if it's blue or green, that's a big negative to me.
Sorry bud. I don't know what it is. I'm just into natural colors. Due to yours being bedliner, it's got an advantage. I do like your Jeep, especially now that the engine matches
Ya it is a family car ill have the TJ and CJ to wheel in. I just pray my addiction does not take over and I go and over build it. Haha if I find a ZJ or XJ as clean as yours before I buy a new car ill go with that even though my GF might be a little pissed.
Im the same way and that patriot is jumping at me at the moment. I would never go and get something not made by jeep im not a jeep nut its just I am familiar with most of the parts and I like the brand.
I suppose it's time to turn this back into a build thread instead of "Confessions of the Devil".
I'm gonna get my flares pulled off today so I can get rollin' on this vinyl. But the flares are going back on. I also need to find an adhesive that will bond aluminum to chrome plating. I'd been told E3000 was good stuff, anybody used this before?
That's good to know. We've got two Goodyear tire shops in town, but I'd bet Walmart is cheaper. I ended up working on a '76 GMC shortbox my boss is giving to his son-in-law. Masked the whole truck off and painted the engine bay.
I got the dp accents ready to put on my chrome door handles, the radio antenna will go on tomorrow, and the mud flaps with the dp supports will go on tomorrow
A fluid change for the tranny, transfer, and both diffs will be done tomorrow also. Then I'm going hunting for a Cobra and the whips will get mounted if I get that far
I've decided to get the Subaru running again before I do the vinyl due to the number of things that need done to do the whole job.
I've really been trying to get away from being the epitome' of depression. Projects have been getting worked on in my living room since I have no gas to get to the shop.
The radio antenna got done and works great, compared to not having one. The dp accents for the exterior door handles are done. I need to remove them for the gluing process so the black handles will be on for a few days. And I got the mudflaps ready for install. I'm still trying to decide if I want to put the diamonds facing the tire so the dp can be seen in the wheel wells, or facing the back in which case the diamonds will almost not be visible.
Ya, I'm kind of leaning that way too. More cuz 1. Facing the tire it would always be covered in crap anyway. 2. I don't need the tread getting worn from making contact.
I'm gonna go all out on them tomorrow. The trim needs repainted, so I'm gonna use the aluminum epoxy. And a couple of the mounting tabs are broke, so I'm gonna make some out of metal.
The majority of this black stripe is going to have black diamond plate for armor
