Gauge Cluster and Speakers not working

Both my instrument gauge cluster and speakers stop working at the same time, intermittently. Although my radio works all the time (it behaves normally, just no sound comes from my speakers when gauge cluster stops working). It appears to be a loose connection, perhaps a bad ground, which affects both the speakers and gauge cluster at the same time. How would the speakers and the gauge cluster be connected?

That's definitely a interesting problem. I would check into your fuses.look for loose fuse housings and faulty wiring . Look into some wiring diagrams on your model jeep to see if any power wires or grounds are tied into your gauge cluster and radio. Also pull your radio and gauge cluster check your wire connections, check for and nicks,or any type of wear and tear on the wiring

It wasnt the fuse. It was the switch. The switch that turns on the headlights and dims the dash lights. I replaced that switch because it shorting out which is what was causing the dash lights to flicker and eventually blow the fuse to my cluster panel. The fuse should be a normal 10 amp mini fuse

If I remember correctly. The radio ampilifer and the guage cluster use the same fuse in the kickpanel under passenger dashboard.
Its one of the fuses on the right. Like third row second to last fuse. Number 17 or 20? I havent looked at the fuse diagram in a while so my memory is a little off.

I have a Grand Jeep Cherokee ZJ 98 with 5.2L engine. I have a stock radio. The vehicle has had a collision history with past owner doing moderate wiring modifications. I have extensively checked all the fuses, and all are good. When my cluster panel and speakers do work, I have no other electrical issues. My radio system always works. My question being; how or where would the cluster panel and speakers be connected? What do they have in common, for this is the source of the problem.

To Muzramp,
Your information is just what the doctor needed.
Although #7 fuse was working, the connection across the fuse was not.
I reconnected the link using additional wiring, soldering it the existing good fuse.
Once the connection was good, both my instrument gauge panel and radio speakers are again working.
Thanks !
