Creating this thread for some of us local guys as a permanent place to discuss topics that would otherwise clutter our build threads (too late for mine). Mainly intended for me, Jankoid, tyvanwie, JCJeep97 and greene69, but open to all NC peeps. Feel free to duck in.

Ok, I got my $60 share of the 8.8 sale, so it is time to replace these damn bushings. A friend of mine offered to lathe down poly bushings to fit the arms if I supply the bushings and the specs. So, Jake and/or Clay, does anybody have any idea the arm specs and/or know where to find a bushing that could be lathed to fit (i.e. all dimensions either same size or larger)?

Some progress. RC P/N is 90602257. I pulled one of the arms and pulled out the destroyed bushings and took the dimensions of the end. Nothing on Poly Perf's site comes close to matching. They are quite strange dimensions. Really don't want to replace with RC. Of course the Daystar site is no help.

I may have spoken too soon. I think this Poly Perf bushing would fit:

PPM-4305 Universal Track Bar PPM-4305-01 PPM-4405-01 2-5/8" 1-7/8" 0.188" 1" 9/16" Yes
2 5/8" mount width, 1 7/8" tube OD, 3/16" tube wall, 1" sleeve OD, 9/16" bolt size.

When I measured the RC arm, I got 1 15/16" tube OD, 3/16" wall, ect. That is only 1/16" difference and I believe that is probably just error in using a paper ruler and the fact that the tube isn't perfectly smooth for measuring.

Think it will work?

The source of my squeak/thump woes:

Got a thread going about those Poly Perf bushings so we'll see if they will work. If so, I'll be placing an order tomorrow. But I see no reason they shouldn't. In the meantime, the Jeep sits.

I took the tire I cut at Uwharrie to 3 different tire repair stores and all said they wouldn't touch it. They said some of the steel bands were cut and even though they do vulcanized repairs it would not be safe to repair it so I'm SOL :/ Only option is put a little patch on it and put a tube in but even then it wouldn't be safe for road use so it will only be an off road only spare. What a shame that the little cut below basically ruined my tire

BUT in other news I bought a new car over the weekend so Jeep money might be tight for a little while since I have something else to mod :D

Its a 2002 Trans Am. LS1 with a LS6 intake swap, 6 speed with a short throw shifter, long tube headers, high flow cats, Hooker muffler and some aftermarket performance shocks, swaybars and control arms (not sure on brand yet).
This thing is Fast and so much fun to drive! Its definitely faster than the 96 Corvette LT1 we recently got rid of and handles just as good if not a little better, and it sounds amazing!

Looks like the CJ just needed a rocker arm. I'm told by my mechanic that it's fixed and on all eight cylinders.

Going to pick it up tomorrow, so we will see!
That's good. Never thought of that usually don't see broken rockers. Must have been that high speed trip around Raleigh!

Mine's in the shop too. When we were changing the bushings I noticed the pass side 8.8 hard line was all sorts of ****ed. I guess I caught it on a rock. I bent it all back how it should be but I must have put too much stress on it because the hard line/caliper line connection is leaking like a sieve. I'm pretty sure that's the side that was only single flared (damn cheap *** double flaring tool broke after doing the drivers side) so i'm not that surprised. I've had issues with it before. I limped it around the block and back to the shop next door (didn't want to have to wait at the hill on Avent Ferry to turn left with leaking brakes). They said it should be ready tomorrow. Also having them put zerk fittings in the arms (they were already drilled and tapped) and grease them.

Also noticed that 2 of my nice new skid bolts have fallen out on one side. This is probably because I had to run the tap through the nutserts a while back and the threads are a little looser. I'll get some more bolts from Lowes and some locktite. Need to swap out the random bolt on the rear lowers that isn't factory and doesn't really have enough thread for the nut as well.

Theyre fun cars but ive been told the turbos and everything dont last long.
I've been doing a lot of research and there are people with 300k miles on WRX/STI's with just routine maintenance. But that's probably people who bought them brand new. Luckily the only modifications to this one is exhaust and a subwoofer in the back.
