So I went up to shoe creek today, haven't been since early spring. all the side trails are blocked by posts with yellow signs and about 1/3rd of the way i you are greeted with a lovely gate "road closed to all vehicles, foot traffic welcome" :violin:

anyway, there's a trail to the right that pretty legit, and we only got but so far before getting intimidated by private property signs. By the looks of the map the road goes through the private property and back out into the national Forrest and eventually another road.

My question is, does anyone know if the road itself is okay to ride on, as long as one stays off the private property on either side?

if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated :D

From my understanding slick rock has always been off limits. The tank traps before you reach it should have been a sign to stay away. Please stay on the main trail. The land owners up there are fighting to close the trial. The path you posted is legal. Just stay on the path and don't try any off shoots. It's still a fun trail that a stocker could do and a few lines that requires a little more

Just to play devil's advocate....I went up there a few months ago and happened to chance upon a ranger in the area. I got to talking with him and asked him about slick rock being closed to vehicle traffic. He told me that is not the case and that it is an open obstacle, whether the word of one ranger should be taken as gold is not my call to make, just explaining my personal interactions with him. Either way, do your research, things change and you'll always be better off informed than caught with your pants down.
