Hey all,

I just moved back to Oregon (Beaverton/Portland area) and would really appreciate any suggestions for a reputable mechanic for my jeep. I've got a 2004 unlimited with 90k on it, and just noticed some transmission fluid dripping under the vehicle when I got home yesterday. Only collected 4-5 tablespoons in a plastic cup, so it's not leaking much, but I want it looked at asap.

Who have you worked with that treated you right?

Many thanks!

Dave

I know of Erickson's, website is www.jeepers.net. Bill the owner seems to be a pretty honest guy, but I haven't had much done with them. I was also looking for a place other than a dealer that specialized in Jeeps (mine is a WJ JGC). There aren't many shops claiming to know Jeeps.

I've heard good things about Holbrook Specialties in Gladstone, Ph. 503-655-4747,
Leonard's Off Road in Hillsboro, Ph. 503-693-8689,
And R&P 4WD Parts in Oregon City, Ph. 503-557-8911 (not sure if they do much repair work nowadays, but it wouldn't hurt talking to them)
You could also check with Central 4WD in Portland, 503-283-1291
If nothing else, any one of these shops should be able to get you pointed in the right direction.

Mountain air offroad.

Owner- Shane Fay

503-730-3263

He's worked on my jeeps for many years. Use to work for jeep Gresham until he got sick of watching them ripp people off. His shops in welches, yeah a little commute but knows his stuff and is very reasonable. 20plus years just working on jeeps.

Good luck. Call him and find out yourself:2thumbsup:

I met and wheeled with Shane this weekend for the firsts time.
A great guy, and I couldn't agree more.....the guy really DOES know his stuff.
His Big Blue Jeep on 40's is absolutely AMAZING. the thing could probably climb a tree.
I'm going to try to make it out to his shop one of these days just to say hi.
If I had the funds, I would gladly give him my Jeep and let him "do stuff to it" .... I know for certain, when I got it back it would be incredible.

Got a call back from leonard at Leonard's Off-road yesterday. He sounded like a real straight up guy and answered a lot of my Q's over the phone, but also said that he got out of the business last year (yet he returned my call just the same)! So anyway, gotta scratch him off the list now. I asked him who he'd recommend and he said "NO ONE!" What a sad state of affairs in these parts! I do wish this Shane Fay was a little closer in to the city, although I can see why he likes it where he's at.

Currently I just need someone to press in some new bushings into my control arms, and I'd like to keep the drive within 10-15 miles.
