So I decided to start a build thread in order to document my 8.8 build this winter, even though I should've started this thread a long time ago. But hey, better late than never, right?

Here's a current pic:

The earliest pics I can find are from my t-case swap, so I guess I'll start there. I'll try to put pics in order the best I can.

Received my new plenum plate and my 50 mm throttle body. Now I just gotta find time to install them lol. The craftsmanship on the TB is amazing for a modified stock one. Also got some pallets to burn this weekend.

Advance auto. They were on sale for $30. They're made real cheap, though. I probably wouldn't buy them again lol.

aaaand I installed it already lol. Inside was covered in oil. Definitely gotta get that plenum done. I was gonna wait to do both of them at the same time, but I couldn't resist.

Yes it is lol. Got 2 of em in the 10" flavor off ebay for like 10 bucks. They attract a lot of attention lol.

It was $90 shipped. Plus he said he would refund me $25 for the core when I send it back. Definitely made a difference, though. Much better throttle response off the line.

The guy I bought it from. Its not a new tb, its a modified stock one. Its not sold by a company or anything. Same guy that sells this one, but mine's a 50mm. I contacted him through thespeedfreaks

Did a little bit of plastidipping today. Whatever its called that the license plate screws to, paint on it was looking ****ty, so I gave it about a half dozen coats.

Stopped by the post office to grab a flat rate box, came back out and when I tried to start it, the key was loose. Turned it all the way and there was no springy-ness lol. Kept fiddling with it and got it started, went home and took the lock cylinder out and found this (corner broke off), and I broke the black plastic around the steering column to get it out cause I didn't have anything to take the damn torx screws out. Ordered another lock cylinder from work but it won't be here til thursday. Not really what I felt like spending 65 bucks on, but I'll be somewhat happy as long as I don't need the ignition switch, which is another 40 bucks.

Well, for the second day in a row it overheated in the same spot, going up a huge hill. Started backfiring like a mofo and I had no power. Pulled over for a minute and it was fine. So I bought a 180* thermostat since its recommended with a performance pcm. I was gonna get one anyways when I got around to doing my plenum, but I don't want to wait that long.

Bought some calipers for my 8.8 and painted them with the silver engine enamel I had left. I'm done with finals wednesday night, so I plan on starting the swap on thursday if I don't work, and if I do, then thursday night.

Well, its sitting on its own weight. Just waiting for a brake hose, since the left side I ordered had a junction in the middle, so it wouldnt work. I ordered another one that's the same as the right side. Also need to get a shorter section of brake line, because a 40" was too long. Then I'll bleed the brakes, and fill the diff with fluid, and then it will be ready to drive.

So I just finished a little while ago, but I would have been done a lot sooner, if one of the ******* brake caliper bolts didn't break as I was tightening it. They were going in a little tight, between the rust that was in there and paint from when I painted the brackets, I guess it was a little clogged. So I get the pass. side in fine, tighten the bolts down good, then get to the drivers side, and I guess I tightened the top bolt a little too much, and sheared it off basically flush with the bracket, so I wasn't getting vice grips on it. I tried welding a nut to it, didn't work, and broke I think 3 extractors. I couldn't retap it for a bigger bolt because it doesn't just hold the caliper to the bracket, its part of the sliding mechanism, so a bigger bolt wouldn't work. My neighbor ended up coming over and retapping it the same size, which I didn't think you could do, and it worked. I broke the bolt at like noon, and I didn't get the caliper on until about 8. But at least I'm done with the installation part.

Go Topless day on saturday was pretty cool, found CTeunch's rig there. Did a little wheeling on the beginner trails and didn't have any problems, even with my front swaybar connected. But going up the first hill, my rear end flexing caused my driveshaft to hit my exhaust, and I almost **** a brick when I first heard it. Thought my jeep was falling apart lol. Bought a new master cylinder that should handle the 4 wheel discs better, might have a shop do it for $100.

Somehow I saw neither this post, or you that day. I was in the UJ booth most of the time, then blew up the locker in the D44 on the first obstacle of one of the harder trails. It sucked but at least I got out. How were the trails you ran?

UJ is having a run on August 10th just outside of UMass Amherst, if you're interested shoot me a PM.
