I have a 1993 ZJ and not too long ago the overhead information display went on the fritz, so the first thing I did was check the fuses. All fuses looked ok, but there was a wire in the fuse panel of the passenger side that was bare and not attached to anything. I haven't seen this type of wire before, the bare end is attached to a spring and when pulled it seems to break the connection. Not knowing what it is or where it goes I just put some electrical tape on the end and came here. The picture doesn't show, but it says 4 AMP on the plastic casing. Anyone know what this is and where it goes?
You do not have an FSJ Wagoneer. FSJ Wagoneers ended production in 1991. You have a ZJ Grand Cherokee (sometimes called a Grand Wagoneer but not a true Grand Wagoneer.)
Wow....your point? It's still a 93 Wagoneer whether it was just a trim option for the GC or not. No need to be a dick, especially when I never claimed it to be an FSJ.
Edit: Ah, I see what you were referring to. I am new here and chose the Wagoneer from the drop down menu when making my profile because that's what my Jeep is (even though just in name). Didn't mean to start anything, I'm just here looking for help.

The answer to your question is; that wire is not factory original, some previous owner had a 12 volt device installed, and needed some power.

Thank you, so at the risk of confusing others and getting the right help I guess I should refer to my Jeep just as a 93 ZJ and not a Wagoneer. The only aftermarket device in the Jeep is a stereo receiver which stopped working months ago. I'm replacing it with an OEM stereo in a week or so, maybe that's what it was to? What kind of device would use a fuse/switch like that?
Thanks I appreciate the help, it was bugging me not knowing what it was for. Now knowing it's not a stock wire and I have nothing that needs it I can pull it out of there.
