Brass leaf spring bushings

So I am pretty new to this whole jeep thing. Bought a 93 about 3 weeks ago. The front was making a little noise when I bought it but after taking it out a couple times the back is now making noise. I was going to buy replacement bushings, but then I thought about just making some out of brass. I work in a machine shop, it wouldn't be too difficult. I have a few questions though:

1. Will brass even work? I know it used to be done on old hot rods and a lot of drag cars use them.

2. How can I tell if I have stock leaf springs or aftermarket? The only lift on it is a 2" block.

3. Does anyone have dimensions for bushings? I can buy some and then take them back but that is kind of a waste of time.

If you have a 2" lift block, then you are already spring over. Pics would help.

I don't see brass bushings being good in any situation on a Jeep. The bushings dampen a lot of road vibration and assist in letting your shackle move. Buy new bushings.

He could be talking about a body lift. But I'd agree about SOA. OP post some pictures of your front axle. Spring bushings could be the least of your worries.

update

Here's an update on where I am at. I discovered they used brass in the past on old hot rods and drag cars because they don't go off road with them. So I am going to be using poly. Now my next issue is that I don't know what brand of suspension it has. I went to the local offroad shop today to talk to a few guys. The leaf springs are not stock, don't know if it is a 2" or 2 1/2" lift but it does have the military leaf spring kit. I have Rancho shocks, so I am guessing it is going to be Rancho leaf springs, but I cant find any numbers on them. Gonna try and clean them tonight and see what I can find.
