This thread is to serve as an inspiration to others modifying their ZJ's. Pretty simple, just post what you did to your ZJ today!

Today I shamefully took my Jeep to get the oil changed because it was to hot to change it myself.

If Certain Stickers add HP, this one and it's twin on the other side make my ZJ amphibious!

http://www.dccontrol.com/relay_controllers.htm

I'm using the 2sp controller. People were whining about the the high amp start up of the taurus fan worrying about it killing 40amp relays. So he came out with the 2sp2 with 80amp high speed relay.

I don't have any troubles with my 2sp.
Thanks! It's a little rich for my blood right now. I think I'll manually control the fan for the time being and eventually get one of these. I'll install a kill switch where the 3 position rocker will be so I won't have a gaping hole somewhere.

No. I don't know who you've been hanging around with, but if a 17 year old can install a 3.5 lift with absolutely zero prior knowledge and not f*** anything up, I'm pretty sure he will be good for his camping trip this weekend.
Thanks for the confidence boost, this will be the second lift I've done but the first one was like 10 years ago so I'm pretty sure I'm just over thinking the whole thing but I'd rather be over prepared then run into issues I could potentially avoid. And worse case scenario my the zj can stay at home and we'll just take my girls jk. I was just trying to get one more rig rollin because my buddy is too scared to take his bro dozer up the trail were gonna take to get to our camp site.

Are you swapping control arms too?
Not yet, I couldn't quite fit them in the budget but since I decided to settle for finding a decent set of used shoes instead of the brand new mtr's I wanted ill be upgrading to IRO ca's all the way around in the next couple months, I just gotta save up the rest of the cash and decide if I want to go with adjustable or fixed ca's.

I was talking about the DC controller for it. I already bought a brand new fan for $90 something rather than getting a JY fan.
RIGHT.
the Volvo relay and BMW thermoswitch will power your brand new fan. unless I am missing something ...which... wouldn't surprise me

You want adjustable.
Can I ask why? Just curious... personally the fixed ones seem like they would be beefier to me so I was kinda leaning towards those but if the adjustables are the way to go ill definitely look more into those.

This, more than likely. I got away with just adjustable uppers in the rear. the rest of mine are fixed and my pinion angles are good and I have no vibes. I did before I swapped the rears for adjustables though.

Are you saying I can get away with just the Volvo relay and the BMW switch along with my fan? I gathered from your posts that I'd also need that DC controller. The DC controller is $100 I don't want to spend.

so you can adjust them......adjustable arms will allow you to move the axle forward or back in the wheel well a well as set up your pinion angles to where you want/need them

I could see the advantage of being able to get a little more dialed in with pinion angles and what not but won't the longer fixed ones get you where you want/need to be too though? I would have to look again but I believe IRO says the fixed ones are good up to 6 inches of lift. The only lift I've done in the past was on an 82 toyota pickup so all I really had to do was new leaf springs, longer shocks, extend the brake lines and front ds and she was ready for wheelin so all this extra stuff I gotta do with the zj is completely new to me and I'm still learning.

yes, fixed arms will work. but like I said your going to want to be able to make adjustments. with fixed arms you are stuck with what you get. No way to adjsut your angles or axle position. The last thing you really want is to drop money on fixed arms just to find out it gave you a crap pinion angle. now youll be stuck with vibes and no way to adjust it........JMO

Makes sense. I guess if they made the fixed arms specifically for the 4.5 inch lift that could potentially be the way to go, but the adjustables do make more sense since the fixed are made for a range of lifts. Thanks for the info, and sorry if this was a stupid question I just like to know as much info about the stuff I'm dropping my hard earned loot on lol.
