Hi guys,
just wanted to post some pics of some custom lights for the cup holder in my 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo. While looking in the WK forum I came across a guy who was making them for his WK model and they looked awesome. He began to get tons of requests to make them for other members and started doing so. I and a bunch of others kept asking him to make some to fit other models such as my 2000 and he did. If you want to see pictures of some some he has made and pictures of others who have installed them in there Jeeps go to the WK forum and browse for lighted cup holders or here is the link http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/wk-possibly-others-led-lighted-cupholders-1484603/ I will try to upload some pics of mine if I can figure it out. I should have taken them at night because they look really awesome then, so not sure if yiou can get the feel with the pics I took in the day. The ligths are cool, it comes with a controller that allows you to choose many different colors,(red, green, blue, orange, turquise, etc) and 4 brightness levels. You can even tell it to randomly change colors automatically and the speed at which the colors change. Anyway here are my pics:

sorry I didn't take any pics while installing them, I keep running into problems. they powered up fine when tested with my power inverter, but when I tapped the power for the ashtray light they wouldn't light up. so I tapped the wire for the aux power outlet but its not a switched 12v. so I have to remember to turn them off other wise they will stay on. and when I tried to tap the shifter light power they would just light up white, and wouldn't change colors or turn off. but m happy has hell these things look great.

Awesome! Glad you like them! If they don't power on when tapping into existing lighting, it's likely an amperage issue. The LED's themselves don't use a lot of amps, but there seems to be a threshold when it comes to the RGB controller. If there aren't enough, the lights are just white. It's just dependent on the vehicle. A simple switched source seems to be the best way to power them.

Yeah I figured the amps might not have been enough, but I got them in and working... now I just want it to get dark out so I can go play with them.

For those who did this install... Just so I'm clear - the kit is complete, except I have to run to advanced or somewhere and pick up a run of power wire to tap in under the dash and a power switch?

Also, where did most of you guys power into? I was thinking the left sided cigarette lighter that powers on and off with the vehicle.

It is complete, comes with everything you'd need. Unless your adding a switch. You might need a bit of wire depending on where you tapping into a power source but other than that it comes with with taps, led controller, etc... great product and great idea for something unique.

I pulled power from the cigarette lighter fuse under the dash. Ran that to a switch under the dash. Then ran wire from the switch (tucked up and along the center console) to the LEDs. Really is nice to be able to switch them on and off.

You ran a line from the back of the fuse box under the steering wheel or you just connected at the site of the cigarette lighter?

There is an on off switch built into the little controller... if you hold the center button down for a couple seconds it will turn off, so I didn't add a switch

Just like this.
How exactly did you get that in there? I connected mine directly to the back of the cigarette lighter, and sometimes the wires get burning hot. I don't know why it's pulling to much. It's connected to speaker wire.

It worked great all night. Now today it wants to get so hot that its pretty much melting the speaker wire. Only the the switch. After that everything is good.

Pulled the fuse. Stripped the end of the wire. Push/plugged end of the wire in. Put the fuse back in.

Can anyone give me insight as to why the speaker wire is getting hot to the point of melting when the lights are on and the cigarette lighter is in use? I understand common sense says its drawing to much power... But why is no one else having this issue? Even if plugging into the fuse box itself instead of connecting at the point of the cigarette lighter, the amount of power being drawn should still run through that point and the speaker wire...

I don't know. It's just 5 volt LED's and should be pulling only a small amount of amperage. You may want to pm the guy who makes those and ask him. Maybe you got a defective set.

Ok. Made no sense to me. Also, it's only set to blue. None of the buttons work to change colors, intensity, etc. no matter where I pull the power from.

You might want to try another power source. When I first hooked mine up it was only white, tried another power wire and was able to change the colors.

After talking with elcorvino, I'm going to send him a new controller. There should definitely not be any wires getting hot. The controller will get warm, but not uncomfortably so. Out of all the sets that I've sent out, he was unlucky enough to have the only bad controller I know of... :(
