I have a re 800x4 amp and while I was upgrading the speaker wire I have lost front left and later rear left audio to speakers. I have it wired as following. Channel 1 is the dash speakers wired together. Channel 2 is rear speakers, only one input in factory harness? Channel 3 is left front. Channel 4 is right front. I have checked RCA's and tried moving wires to different channels. I used wjjeeps as wire color reference. Any ideas were I have gone wrong? Or do I have faulty amp?

Id have to see a diagram of what you actually did but it reads like youve run multiple channels to the same speaker and also wired speakers to each other. Your ohm load at that point, good chance youve fried channels on your amp.

4 channel amp to 4 speakers each at 4 ohms is straight forward. Ch1 left front, ch2 right front, ch3 left rear ch4 right rear. Each corner alone, not wired to each other.

Wiring speakers to each other, assuming they are all 4 ohm speakers affects what the amp "sees". 2 wired in parallel, 2 ohms. In series, 8 ohms.

Ok, general rules of thumb. Factory wiring is usually undersized for even deck power. Factory "premium" wiring is bizzare, you'll drive yourself nuts trying to use it with aftermarket parts. No reason to make life harder than it already is.

A great f'erinstance is my mustang with the mach system. Try to run anythi g but the mach stereo and amps results in only the tweeters working unless you find some truly mythical wiring adapters to make the mach amps work with an aftermarket deck.

I couldn't figure out for the life of me why my stereo sounded so ****ty when I bought the car until I took the panels off and saw what the po was trying to do and did a little research. An hour later and the system worked and then a speaker upgrade later, sounds great.

So I'm going to ignore the entire factory diagram for the jeep and say run fresh wires from amp to speakers as you see in the 2nd diagram (ignoring the sub hookup). 1 channel to each corner. Since you mentioned rca's I'm assuming you're running an aftermarket deck. If so the only tie ins to the factory harness should be those needed to power the deck. Leave everything else disconnected from the car and let the rca's and the speaker wire from the amp handle the actual signal and output.

Assuming you have 1 4 ohm speaker on each channel your amp will only see that load. If you're running separates through a crossover your amp will likely see only a 4 ohm load as the speajers will be wired appropriately. If you're running separates that are factory, you need to know what their ohm rating is and work from there.

Don't worry about making 1 set of speakers get more power, just wire simply and adjust gains on the amp if the speakers are being over-driven.

Most amps will have some sort of built in protection and they will shut down if the wiring is dropping the load lower than it can do or if its just wired incorrectly.

The "premium Wiring" is the system with the factory amp. which has now been removed.

All speakers and head unit are aftermarket, no crossovers though, with out cross overs would there be any way to mate the dash speakers (a third pair) into this system. speaker wire is cheap and amp's arent too bad. getting new speakers or a autual crossover adds up quick.

i also saw that there might be fuses inside the amp, im going to cross my fingers and hope i just blew one of them.

not to confuse the issue any more, but here is another digram that i was following
