Im picking up an ARB Bullbar tonight, and was reading around on their website. I noticed it says that I have to upgrade to hydraulic cooling. Is this something I can work around. Advice from 99-00 wj owners who have done this is appreciated.
not much help but this came from the install docs:
"installation of this bull bar to the earlier models without the
cooling system upgrade may result in the vehicle running hotter
than normal."
i'm pretty sure if will install without issues, but i don't think the 99-00 came with hydraulic fans. the stock fan for the 99-00 probably doesn't move enough air.
i haven't had any problems with mine... but i have an 01
I wouldnt worry about it. To get a hydraulic fan you need to buy the fan (1,000 bucks) and get a different power steering pump because the powersteering pump runs the fan.
Added weight and redirection of air flow might cause you to run hotter. But if your cooling system is function properly and has been properly maintain I do not see it actually causing an issue. With the combination of a mechanical fan and e-fan you should be fine. Assuming you have both like on my 99. I say install it, and monitor your temps and see if there is a change and go from there. Good luck.
By hydraulic, I assume they mean hydraulic clutch fan. Not hydraulic driven fan. Either way don't worry about it. I only have the factory e-fan and have no over heating issues with my arb and warn m8000 combo.
