I came across this GREAT article on YJ history, and I thought I would share it.

this isnt the typical "in 87, it came out, by 91, it came with FI etc.. etc..." but it covers the history of the company at the time, the public's response etc... EVERYTHING about the YJs.

my favorite quote from the article:
"From late 82 through to 86 AMC created a natural succesor to the CJ7, A rightfull heir to the crown and as it has now turned out the last of the leaf sprung "proper" Jeeps. Read any Jeep book ( recomended books are on the "YJ stats" page ) and you will discover that the YJ is in fact a far superior Jeep to its predecessors. Finally after years of put downs the Wrangler is aknowledged for what it is, a true Jeep, worthy of the name and not just a great off roader but a perfect platform for any serious build up.."

w00t, go square headlights! :D
