So since I bought my. MTRs about a year ago I've had in tire always noisier then the other. Someone told me it could be a tire out of balance but it is getting louder. Any ideas in what I should do.
Why did you mount them at Walmart if you bought them at Discount Tire? Discount should have taken care of everything for you and should also provide free balance and rotation.
Have you rotated them in the past year? MTRs should be rotated every 5k miles for even tread wear, ESPECIALLY with Quadra-Drive. I'd have them balanced, checked for any abnormalities, and rotated.
Report back if you:
1. Still notice the noise.
2. If the noise follows the tire.
3. If the noise remains at the same location even with the tires rotated.
There's a chance you could have a wheel bearing going out...
I bought them on line discount tire. They were shipped to my house. I had them mounted at Walmart because it was cheap. I did rotate them about 5k they are probably due again. I will rotate them tonight and see. But I'm sure it's the tire. I need to go and get an alignment because I just did the upper TREs. But it was doing it before. It just seems to be getting louder as time goes on.
I would definitely not go back to Wally World if i were you... I know this isnt any help but any chance i have to bash Walmart TLE (tire&lube express) i take it .
They installed my bfg tires and took three times at 2 different stores to try to get right then they told me my factory rim was bent but took a small shop once with the same wheels and no problem.
Then i had no choice 6 months later to let them install my Duratracs as i was returning the **** bfg tire i bought from them and they offered to eat the $400 difference in the switch... So now with my new Classic Locks i figure they cant say its the wheel but instead lost 3 bolts from the fake bead lock,,,left one ring almost completely off and i had to pull over to tighten , put a huge mark in the wheel from their tire machine and to boot they are not balanced right once again.
I think having equal opportunity employers are great since every type of person willing to work should be able to... but let those people bag my grocery's not work on my car.
^ AGREED ^ They only charged me 30 bucks to mount and balance the tires on the rims. I brought my wheels up in the back of my camino, so they didn't actually do any work on my truck. I was just in a hurry to have them mounted. Plus I knew they wouldn't mount them on a WJ because they're not the recommended size tire so I told him I had a wrangler. Tehe. Any other place I inquired about minting them wanted like 30 bucks a tire. So either I got what I paid for or I got a bad tire. I'm still gonna rotate them tonight and see if the noise follows the tire.
Ok so I'm at tire kingdom now getting money moneys worth out of the 3 year alignment I bought after replacing the TREs. They're saying the tires are chopped. They are gonna check the right front and see if it is balanced. And if the tire is no good I guess I'll put it on the back left during rotation so I don't hear it so bad
My m/t tires were chopped rather quickly as well and loud as **** (did not rotate as much as i should have) which is why i decided to go with an aggressive a/t this time around....How many miles are on your tires?
Maybe 10k. The suspect tire needed 8oz of weight on the inside. I'd say that's a bad tire. They finally balanced it and put it in the rear and are putting the rears on the front and rebalancing the fronts. They said it should make a big difference.
Well she is all done. I gotta say, what a difference. All the tires are louder now, I guess because they were rotated but no more shimmy and the wheel is nice and straight. Also ridding a lot smoother. I'm a happy camper.
Glad to hear its some what better... at least the ride is better the sound you can just crank the radio if that's your thing... I don't ever listen to the radio cause I'm always waiting to hear the next thing ill be fixing
Ya we use to let them hang like that when I managed a Midas till one fell off bounced and did serious damage to the car next to it with the owner watching. It was definitely one of those oh **** moments.
I just returned to tire kingdom today and threw the tech 20 bucks for hooking my jeep up last night. That was the most pleasurable experience I've ever had there. Surprising somebody there actually knows how to use all the equipment. With my 3 year alignment and getting two tires balanced it only came out to 40 bucks. Back to normal.
Well that was nice of you to take a tip back.... it's amazing how many people don't tip the people that work on your car, I always do before the work even starts because your car will come in first and the quality of work is better if they know prior that I took care of them....
Well I was just so elated that the my jeep was riding so much smoother and the tech was closing out a shift and was taking his time to do it right that it only felt right to take care of him
