I don't even have 700 miles on my new Jeep.
I do have a chipped wind shield though.

Got it going through town at about 30mph.

I'll be the one off in the corner weeping silently to myself...

:p

I bought a used TJ a few years back. The PO had already replaced the glass about a year earlier. Got my first chip just a few months later, have several now.

just a fact of wrangler.

I replaced the windshield on my last Jeep three times. On my first outing with this one, I got a chip. I really wish there was a coating that could be placed over the windshield to protect it, kind of like a cell phone screen cover. The vertical stance of the Wrangler windshield leaves it very vulnerable to chips/cracks.

I filled up my wiper fluid with jergins lotion right before I get on the hiway I spay the windshield I have never had an issue with rock chips. and if im feeling a bit randy...

Flat glass + upright positioning = rock chips & cracks.

On the plus side, the flat glass means that they're not as expensive to replace as an SUV windshield.

The only solution is to apply Clearplex. It's a clear film for the windshield. It will protect against rock chips. The only down side is the cost...about $200, which is more than new glass, however, if you hate to go to the glass shop and waste the time, this is a good solution.

I have my own chipped windshield story...

I had a rock almost sent through my windshield by the local gravel truck, luckily no one was in the passenger seat and no one got hurt. I had the top down and really didnt notice the windshield until I stopped, by that time the truck was long gone. Took it to Fastglass to get it replaced. 120 bucks later, I was on my way home with a brand spanking new windshield. Not even 5 miles down the road on the freeway, there was road construction. A rock got flung up by a car in front of me, putting a bb size chip directly in front of the driver seat.

Sorry to hear about your chipped winshield! Im just glad that for me, the flat YJ winshield is a fairly cheap replacement! Id assume the JK windshield is a bit more.
