Not new to XJ's by any means, Ive had several and I had no intent on making a build thread for my latest. I have no extreme plans, as the Jeep is my primary DD. Things never go as planned though, and my original plans of Rubi wheels and no lift were quickly tossed out. However the new XJ is pretty clean (dent and mostly scratch/rust free), so the build will be based around the ideaology of a mild yet capable rig thats easy on the eyes without going all out on spending.
Jeep is a solid '99 XJ, 4.0/AW4 with hp30 and 8.25. Bought it off an old man that took good care of it and stayed up on maintenance for the most part. Has lots of new gaskets and everything is in nice shape in and out.
Heres a few pics to get started from the day I got it.
Lol thanks. Been several people getting reports of 60k mile tread life if rotated pretty regular. GregB_00XJ has had a set for 3 years and he said he still has all kinds of tread and really likes them. I think theyll serve me well. Im curious to see how they do aired down at WBR next weekend.

I talked to them today and they said they are working on it. But even if they finished tomorrow and shipped it out Ill be cutting it real close on getting it here on time. :/

Hmmm thats comforting. Gives me hope that its possible lol. He said they were cutting the steel this morning so hopefully it goes fast after that. I need it to get here if for nothing else than the sake of recovery points and making you jelly.

Will do man! Im just kinda starting to use the social networking side of it. My wife and I use the same one cause our phones are syncd to an iCloud email or something. We just used it to edit photos for Facebook before pretty much, so Im new to all the hashtag BS lol.
Still no Putco harness. Amazons "SUPER SAVER shipping" must be coming via carrier pigeon. Ive had lightning fast shipping in the past when I paid for the cheapest shipping option.

Nope, its quite a few pages back now but Im running OE Ford Explorer rears. They pretty much bolted in and are 5-ish inches longer than stock and 10" travel. They actually do pretty well and they were the price of 1 of RC's shocks lol.

Pay shipping and you can have my new rears. Rc warrinted my other because they rusted on the stem but i have foxes now, theyre for a 4-6" lift and theyre 2.2s.
Amazon. I originally planned to swap to more standard, quality relays right off the bat, but as an experiment of sorts I intend to make sure they are very well grounded and use plenty of dielectric grease. Ill see how they hold up like that.
Thats all the pics I have for now, Im sick as a dog and managed to get enough energy to wire these up and install new battery terminal. Im curious to see how they look at night. I made sure to ground things real well and wrap/seal up the relays as best as I could. Cycled it on and through highs and lows, everything is functioning perfect. Now we wait for nightfall...
Oh and as a side note, big props to DBO for pulling some work on the weekend to work on customers orders even though they are usually closed. Theyve really been a great group to deal with, cant wait to get the bumper on!
WBR trip is in 6 days, still have a lot of things to do. So the wife tagged along today so I could flex it out and see if anything needed resolving and at least get that much out of the way.
Getting there!
Discovered two issues, both I expected. #1 is I need to go ahead and do the extended brakelines Ive been putting off. You can see in the pic above and a little below that it is maxed out. No bueno.
#2 is the inevitable. The tires just do not fit in the rear fenderwell. It is now officially time to trim.
So Ive made an effort to really take my time to make my fender trimming look somewhat factory.
First fender done. Not bad for a cutoff wheel.
