Time for a T&T Customs project of a different sort.

After attempting to push the Low Wagon to its limits our GM, Rod, decided he wanted to build something that had a real "frame" underneath it ;).

The build plan.......

Begin with a 94' YJ, discard the YJ front clip and use a CJ front clip. Rod's been used to the cargo room of his XJ and has a couple boys so added space is also desired. Our solution for that is to add 15" between the door opening and the wheelwell making the tub the same length as an LJ while retaining a nice departure angle. The YJ frame will of course get stretched accordingly and suspension duties will be fullfilled by our YJ Rock-Tek coil conversion, with a few tweaks to account for the added length

Other specs include,
- T&T Fenders & Corners w/ 3" flares
- T&T Guardian sliders
- T&T Guardian front bumper
- T&T High Clearance rear XMBR
- T&T Cage
- Front HP Dana 44/60 Hybrid w/ 5.13's and 35 spline ARB & T&T axle truss
- Rear Ford Truck 8.8 w/ Moser 9" housing ends, 35 spline spool & 35 spline alloy shafts & T&T mounts
- 3.8 Atlas
- PSC Extreme Duty Hydraulic Assist
- 17" Trailready Beadlocks
- 39" Irok Radials
- Genright YJ EXT Tank
- Warn 9.5ti

Enough words....time for pics!

Time to fill the void

Got the floor piece cut this week. It's got a 1" flange along the back for strength as well as along the sides so I can spot weld it to the side pieces. We also rolled some beads in it to add additional rigidity.

Bob suggested I use a scissor jack to raise the back up tightly against the floor, this also gave me something to push down against so I could make sure the two pieces were tight together when spot welding them.

Welded in place. I was concerned I might run into a wrinkle considering how much we cut everything apart but it all went together nicely.

What is your plan for the rear seat? I only ask because it seems like you would want to run the wheel wells further up and have more room in the rear. Although, it would also be a great spot to add some custom storage boxes with the extra space! As it sits, with the seat in the stock location to the foot well, you will have a lot of space on each side of the seat. Maybe you have room for a third seat from something like a Suburban? That could be set up to fold down, and use the quick release floor mounting. If you have room for that seat, you can bump seating up to 5! I happen to have a Suburban with this seat if you want some measurements.

Anyway, really slick work! I love seeing something done like this and not look hacked!

I stretched the Jeep to not only gain wheelbase but primarily to gain cargo space as well since I have two boys so a third seat isn't in the cards but it is an interesting idea. The current plan is to install the factory seat but likely move it rearward a couple inches to gain a little more foot room for passengers without sacrificing too much cargo space. I was actually thinking of building some boxes in front of the wheel wells that would include cup holders plus be used for arm rests as well as additional storage.

What I was talking about was not so much adding a third seat, but using the third seat from a Suburban as your seat. It has flush mount brackets in the front and rear for removal. Plus no floor brackets sticking up. But more so, it may be a bit wider to utilize that extra space, and gain an extra seating position in your Jeep. You might still have leftover space for a cup holder design. Or maybe even custom speaker boxes with cup holders and storage!
