I hear ya man, Think everyone coming off a deployment deserves a long vacation, Mine was down to Key west for a week, It was pretty nice.. Keep your head up and stay safe dude..:cheers2::cheers2:
Yes It could. Had my cousin Killed by an IED and another cousin got hit with IED and finally had to have his leg amputeded. Now the Goverment is saying they paid him to much disability from which was barely enough to support his family and now they are saying he has to pay back $46,000 dollars.. You would think giving up a leg would be worth way more than that.. Hell guess they want the arm too..
Saw a lot of guys coming back when I was at the wtb in san Antonio. The part that still gets me is how humble they all were to be alive. Sorry to hear about your cousin.
Nothing like anything you guys have been through, but I was bobbing around off the coast of Kuwait in 1991 in a giant gas can (Clicky link).
Closest I got to combat was when we were between the USS Missouri and her assigned target when they were told to open up with the 16" guns. Missouri advised command that we were down range. The chilling response? "Sucks to be them. NGFS on your target NOW!!" :fear:
Never seen the old Rolling Joke haul *** quite like that day!! :tea:

Ah makes sense, no I'm Air Force Ammo, they used to be four month deployments which meant 5-6 in reality. Then we went to six months which now means 7-8

No kidding brother! I watched 3 different SF units come and go and each time I had to get use to the way they did ****. It just sucked watching them leave knowing I had a lot more time left.
Agreed! Iraq sucked. At least Afghanistan was all mountains and different seasons, at least you had something nice to look at to take your mind off of all the bull**** that comes with the job. Iraq is nothing but desert unless your by the tigris or Euphrates river. But one thing I did like was the stars at night, clear as could be, you could actually see the Milky Way. Crazy
