I bought a used soft top for my 4dr jeep the other day and when I took it out of the box that the guy had it in this part fell out. Just curious if anyone knows what it is. The box the soft top was in was a large flat screen tv box so I think it was part of the shipping packaging for the TV but just want to make sure its not a part for the soft top.
to know for sure thanks.

Part of a flux capacitor? Muffler bearing?

Sry, I have a soft top and do not recall that part being a part of it...then, I have a 2 dr.

That's clearly the alignment bearing for your turboencabulator. :)

Honestly though I think that's part of the tv or the packaging. If you have installed the top and it's working properly you should be good to go.

Haven't installed the top yet will put it on this weekend. Also I looked the top over last night and everything seems like its there and this piece doesn't look like it belongs.

And there is nothing in the middle it's just hallow.

Just gonna throw it in the junk drawer for now just in case.

I had a customer once that always thought it was funny to order stuff like "An intake valve for a Red Camaro that will fit in a blue Caprice". Yea funny when I am busy and work stops to answer the phone. He was a regular though. And we had a HUGE supply of old small parts like the cam followers and valve sets for 32 ford flatheads and old international diesel pre-combustion chambers.

So I started slipping a few "extras" into his "small parts that we do not reassemble for you and are returning intact for you" a bag. Best one was a Lock-N-Stich stich pin. Its a very unique threaded and shouldered expendable item used in crack repair. The uniqueness makes it look VERY important... he called back halfway through installing the rebuilt heads having just found it and not knowing where it goes. I "could not picture it", so he brought it in asking what it was for and "dumbfounded" everyone in the shop... we were machinists not mechanics so all we could offer was best guesses... and had fun with those guesses.
