Laurel Lakes is pretty high on my "To Do' list this summer, is there a website that post updates on the snow situation? I've seen videos where people were blocked from continuing due to snow banks in July.
I don't know of any sites that I can think if. I went up last Sept and it was a lot rougher this time. I hadn't been up in a number of years. It's a really cool trail . Fall Colors along the creek are awesome too!
Thanks man.. I hope to get up there this summer. I finally picked up my Cherokee and I'm excited to do some backcountry trails in the sierra. It sucks starring up at those mountains in a 2WD
Shouldn't have any problem in July. Its more of a road than a trail, rocky and bumpy but doable. When we were there people in 2wd F150's were doing it so, not all that bad. Do stop by the creek and enjoy the trees and scenery down there. Nice place, very quiet and peaceful.
Thanks for the info... I'm mostly going to fish it up there, but it appears to be a busy spot. Might be trying a few other ones i've found reading some older 4x4 books
There is a run in the Mitchell book for that area called Coyote FLATS (reason for caps is there is canyon also, different part of the valley) Very serene up there, easy trail, normally no one there.
Check it out.
