Going to the US in August and have some shopping for the 9er to do :) Anyone give me details of the best place to purchase a full set (both axles) of rubber bushings for the control arms ?

Cheers

Get full control arms rather than bushings unless shipping space is an issue. I buy online for parts I don't need today, either 1aauto.com or rockauto.com.

Brick and mortar I shop only at o'reilly's but thats a personal decision based on the people there pulling all the stops to help me when I'm really screwed (broken down in the desert).

Dont really want to bring all the control arms back in a suitcase due to weight allowance ( gonna bring other items back too) unless there is not much in the $$$ price

i have replaced just the bushings and it is a pain in the a** to get the new bushings in and trying not to bend those stock arms, why not just ship them to yourself?

If you use poly bushings, like the Energy Suspension ones, then they just push in by hand. I've recently done mine, and it was extremely easy - burn out the old rubber (about five minutes per bushing), clean up the inside of the metal sleeve with a wire brush, press in the new bushing by hand.

Exdecuk - shipping a full set of arms is going to be expensive due to the size and weight of the package. You may find that after you've paid the international shipping, import duty and VAT, it would have been cheaper to source them through a Jeep dealer in the UK, so make sure you do a proper cost comparison.

Assuming your arms are in good condition and it's only the bushings that need replacement, an alternative would be to buy poly bushings, as I mention above - Energy Suspension does complete bushing sets (for the arms plus all the other suspension and steering components that use bushings), but they're heavy too. Just getting the control arm bushing sets would be much lighter on shipping.

Actually some aftermarket control arms are crap, steel much thinner than the original ones. And the bushings you've got to be picky about. I'd recommend Mopar, theyre about $20-30 per for lower and $15-20 for uppers if i'm not mistaken.
Others (like crown) either wear out quickly or their center sleeve strts spinning inside the rubber.

Ok then. It seems full arms are the way to go (less hassle) so the cheapest place to get a DECENT full set (back and front) would be where online?. Any links would be appreciated.

I used to have all my parts shipped USPS surface and would take about 6 weeks (great if you were not in a hurry or planned ahead). I has alloy heads, cast crank, pistons, rods, supercharger etc etc for the Jeep 6.7 stroker engine sent that way & it was cheap. Now thats been stopped and its all gotta come by air so heavy shipping is out. I can bring back the arms in our suitcases so weight should be ok. I have seen full sets of poly bushed arms for about $70 a set front & back. Already running H&R springs -2" and military Addco bars on 275/55/17 tyres. Would the poly bushings make the ride much harsher? As you can tell it stays on the tarmac.
