http://www.ebay.com/itm/mygig-softw...ombination-includes-iPhone-fix-/222438882042?

THERE ARE MANY POSTS TO THIS THREAD.

POST #3 contains SOFTWARE related information.

What is MYGIG? Click here for an explanation and video demo!!!http://www.chrysler.com/en/owners/mygig/

RADIO CODES

Bottom right corner of the radio, you will see a 3 letter Radio Code:
RES - Single disk, CD, MP3/WMA. Media Center 130. Standard base radio.
REQ - Six disk, CD, DVD, MP3/WMA. Media Center 230 option.
REN - MyGig, non navigation model. Media Center 430 option. 1st Gen.
RBZ - as above, but the new model starting in 2010. 2nd Gen.
RER - MyGig, navigation model. Media Center 730 option.
All radios: +RSC means Sirius satellite integrated.

PRELUDE: MYGIG for Jeep Wrangler JK.
HIGH SPEED vs. LOW SPEED
MYGIG units are available in both HIGH SPEED BUS and LOW SPEED BUS.
The Wrangler JK requires a HIGH SPEED BUS model.
LOW SPEED is for Grand Cherokee and Commander, among others.
HIGH SPEED is for Wrangler (all years) & Liberty.
If you purchase a HIGH SPEED MYGIG REN or RER for your Wrangler, 99% of the time, it will work "plug and play" without any dealer involvement.

Anyone can remove their old stereo and install a REN or RER in a matter of 30 minutes with common tools and little or no experience. If you do have experience, expect this to only take 15-20 minutes.

MOPAR® SIRIUS SATELLITE ANTENNA FOR RER,REN,RES,REQ,RBZ
Antenna for Radio that has integrated satellite radio receiver such as RES, REQ +RSC. Or RER, REN.
If your current stereo has a SAT button on it, you already have this part installed.
It is the yellow plug.
Manufacturer Part No: 82210466AB
This is plugged into the back of your stereo. The antenna is placed on the P-side roll bar.
Link to part: MOPAR 82210466AB - MOPAR® SIRIUS Satellite Radio Installation Kit for 07-10 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec
Link to PDF: http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82210466AB.pdf
for 2011 JK, the GPS and SAT antenna was combined.
more research needs to be done.

MOPAR RER MYGIG NORTH AMERICA
Integrated Satellite. Integrated Bluetooth UConnect module, just add mic $37.50, plug and play!
2007 to early 2008 = 20gb hdd.
Early-Mid 2008+ = 30gb hdd.
2007-2008 = You can only use the AUX input for iPod/iPhone. Control via device.
2009+ = iPod/iPhone integration cable is available, see below.
ALL RER = Single CD/DVD. WMA/MP3. Sirius, requires antenna (you may have it if your radio has a SAT button). Navigation, requires GPS antenna. Uconnect module is built in, requires a mic kit $.
Link to purchase: MOPAR 82211860AB - MOPAR® MyGiG® Multimedia System with GPS Navigation for 2008 Jeep® Wrangler, Wrangler Unlimited JK & Liberty KK - Quadratec or check classifieds.
Link to PDF for installation: http://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Installation/103140.pdf

In 2011 the RER was changed to GARMIN.

UCONNECT MIC KIT FOR RER
Stand Alone Microphone Kit for customers with RER. $ Cheap!
The UConnect module is already built into the RER. This is one reason the system is pricey.
You just need this mic kit. Not the module/mic kit.
This will enable hands-free calling & voice control to for RER Uconnect GPS radios.
Link to purchase: Jeep Wrangler Uconnect Microphone Kit
Link to PDF: http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-US/imagehandler.ashx?id=14078
Roughly $37 from Justforjeeps.com or leeparts.com, you plug it into the back of the mygig.
The wire comes up right next to the top panel cover, and the mic sticks via 3M to any location
in that area. It's very stealth and looks great, works great, trust me!

GPS ANTENNA FOR RER
Manufacturer Part No: 5064350AA
This antenna is a must have for navigation features to function. Without this antenna, your Navigation feature will not function AT ALL. I've tested it.
This is plugged into the back of the RER Navigation system. The harness is blue. The wire is very short. There is a mounting dock already in your JK 2007-2010. The location is directly on top of your stereo, under the radio cover. It's to the left of your compass (if applicable). Installation takes minutes and there is no need for instructions. Most kits will come with wire ties or 3m tape to secure the antenna.
Link to purchase: RER GPS Antenna ('07-'09 Wrangler) edit, 2007-2010.

This ^ antenna above can be purchased for any MYGIG RER 2007-2010.
The antenna will mount like OEM in any 2007-2010. NOT 2011.
This antenna can also be used with a MYGIG RER 2007-2010 in a 2011, however:
You will plug the antenna into the back of the radio, and mount the antenna in same
area that it would in a 07-10 JK, but there will not be an OEM mount waiting for the antenna.
You must fasten the antenna with wire ties, velcro, or 3M to any area above the radio (similarly)
to a 07-10 installation, but you will have to make it work yourself.
The reason for this is simple. The 2011 JK MYGIG RER = Garmin.
They use the same antenna for both SAT and GPS.

iPod/iPhone INTERFACE CABLE FOR 2009+ RER ONLY
Manufacturer Part No: 82211853
IMPORTANT NOTES: Discontinued by Mopar -
SOME PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED ISSUES WITH THE LATEST VERSIONS OF THE IPOD INCLUDING IPOD TOUCH AND IPHONE. APPLE IS WORKING ON A FIRMWARE UPDATE. PLEASE CHECK ITUNES REGULARLY.
I HAVE DONE SOME TESTING PERSONALLY AND EXPERIENCE MANY-MANY DIFFICULITIES WITH THIS CABLE AND A 2009 SYSTEM. NOT JUST CONNECTIVITY ISSUES, OTHER ISSUES AS WELL.

iPod integration means you can navigate your iPod through your radio controls, RER only. With this simple "plug and play" hook up, your iPod/iPhone stays securely attached, out of view and continually charging. There is enough cable to reach the glove box and then some. But not enough to reach the center console.
IMPORTANT NOTES: If you have a 2009-2010 Jeep Wrangler with factory RER, this cable is for you. If you add an RER to your Wrangler, it must be a 2009+ model RER unit for this cable to work. This will NOT work with a 2007-2008 model RER. I have tested this, do not try it.

LOCKPICK2 MOD FOR MYGIG RER & REN & REN+RSC:
This part is required to unlock all blocked features of your MyGIG.
If you purchase and install this part ($199.00 on ebay) you will gain:
DVD Playback While In Motion
Navigation Address Input While In Motion (RER)
Enable Backup Camera Input For Aftermarket Installations
Enable VES (Rear Entertainment Mode)
Video And Audio Input For iPod, iPhone, Computers, Or Video Games
Programmable DIP Switches Enable Or Turn Off Specific Functions
Works With All MyGIG Radios

Link to manufacturer website: http://www.coastaletech.com/MYGIG.htm

Link to a seller on ebay that I can recommend from personal experience. This is based on price and extremely fast and reliable support:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/222438882042?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Be sure order the part for JEEP, seller name " kimber1072 " is located in NYC.
When I get good service, I spread the word.

MOPAR REN MYGIG
Similar to RER except: NO NAVIGATION. NO INTEGRATED BLUETOOTH UCONNECT.
2007-2008 RER = 20GB HDD.
2009 = 30GB HDD.
REN + RSC = SIRIUS MODEL.
REN without RSC = NO SIRIUS (antenna required).
ALL REN = Single CD/DVD. WMA/MP3. HDD. NO Navigation.
Again, REN doesn't have the uconnect module. You need the module/mic kit $$.
Link to purchase 20gb REN + RSC: REN AM/FM/Satellite MP3 Player with 20 GB HD - Jeep Grand Cherokee, Commander, & Liberty - Item # 5064242AK, 5064243AL, 5064244AK & 5064245AL
Again, try to find a 2009 model = 30gb hdd.
Link to PDF: see RER pdf

In 2010 the REN was replaced with RBZ.

iPod/iPhone INTEGRATION FOR RES,REQ,REN

The next two iPhone/Ipod cables are confusing. There are two options in the first listing. And the second listing is for the older part. Listed here as a resource.

CURRENT OPTION (1 AND 1A):
iPod iPhone DIRECT CONNECT INTEGRATION (REN,RES,REQ MODELS 2008+)
For RES, REQ, REN, will not work with RER.
There are two kits available:

(Replaces item # 82210787AB)
Item # 82212000 - Connects iPod to the Mopar UConnect module with iPod integration*, item numbers 82211877 or 82211878. Harness charges 3G iPhone.
(Replaces Item # 82211263AC)
Link to Purchase: iPod Integration (Models 2008-Up) - Item # 82210787AB & 82211263AB
Link to PDF: http://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Installation/114245.pdf

Does anyone have information on where the thresholds are for updates on the RBZ? And what the current version is? Is it 33.xx.xx?

I currently have 08.05.02 and was told I cannot update to the latest one. I was told I need at least 15.xx.xx to get current. However, I think I've found 10.xx.xx, 20.xx.xx & 23.xx.xx updates in addition to the 33.xx.xx. Can I just jump to the 23.xx.xx? Or will I have to install 10.xx.xx & 20.xx.xx before installing 23.xx.xx.

Finally, does anyone have good sources for these files. With mofv.com constantly down, and not really designed to supprot the RBZ anyway, is there a good source I'm missing or is it really as scattered as it seems?

Thanks, and sorry for all of the questions.

Thanks for the posts. They were definitely a help. I was able to update the application to 10.00.11 but there still appears to be a gap in the upgrade path. I can't jump up into the 20's, and still appear to need a 15.xx.xx before I can update to the latest. If anyone has one in that range and could share it with me, that would be great.

#85 ·
Not sure what you are saying when u say Upgrade path....You can go from the oldest version and skip 20 updates to go to the current one....Each and every update will have everything from the first version all the way up to the version that is being loaded/updated from the disk being used at that moment.....
With the RBZ/RHB units, only updates that are different will be the update to the separate Uconnect Module which will not be loaded by a disc, it's updated using a usb flashdrive

#87 ·
And put no Faith when it comes to the Version Numbers as they will never stay or be in a certain order....for the RER, it would go from a 242.1 to a 9.08...depends on if it's a Patch etc...so don't tried to do in number orders....it doesn't help you or the unit...lol

Well, I've burned iso's from multiple sources of both the 23.xx update and 33.xx update and the radio won't do anything with them. It recognizes them as data, but just says "STOPPED" and won't initialize the update procedure. There was no issue going from 08.xx to 10.xx.

I was told by someone else that I needed at least 15.xx for 33.xx to install. I don't know if he is correct, but I do know that I don't seem to be able to upgrade from from 10.xx to either 23.xx or 33.xx, nor could I from 08.xx. Oh well...

I really do appreciate the help... I hope I can get to the bottom of this.

SirCody,
Thanks for your involvement, you're doing a great job :tea:
I was about to give up on this site until you posted a kind word. That is what this site is all about, getting up to 99% of your questions answered/found and when i have found something i need, I like to return the favor twice fold. Again Thank You and this has been a First for all the Forums I visit on a Daily Basis. Not just speaking of a nice comment to me but I have never read a Moderator speak as kind as this Moderator has. Without members there is no Forum, Great Job to keep spirits up in a Forum. Thank you

I would not try updating an RBZ from 10.x.x or lower, directly to anything 20.x.x or higher. In my experience, it doesn't work and can lead to some uncomfortable situations. I am guessing there is an intermediary that is required. Something around 12-18.x.x. I don't know for sure, this is only my experience. I do not wish to mislead anyone here!

Folks who have 20.x.x can jump up to 23 or higher .x.x

Cheers

That's what I gather... Unfortunately with mofv down, I can't find an .iso for anything between. And I feel like I don't have anywhere else to look. So if anyone casually reading this thread have one of those releases and can throw it up on dropbox or something like that, it would be much appreciated.

Hoping a mod has time this week, to clean up a page or two of communication here, the last few pages can use some raking.

Thx for you time and energy.
Hey Ron...Sorry...I removed all that it would let me remove, lol, was hoping I could help him out but can't delete them so it's just less that has to be raked...LOL...Thanks for all your Hard work over the Years....lol ..

And I hope I didn't make anything harder for the Moderator....

SOX usually has them All, and on his MyDrive for that unit, this is only ones..

RBZ8.5.ISO.......... 16.0 MB ........................................15/12/2010
RHB-RBZ-RB2-33-01-23.iso..........67.4 MB ................. 14/12/2012

But this isn't anything you need right?

#103 ·
I did see the link to his site. Unfortunately he didn't have anything between 10 & 33.

I was told I need 15.xx.xx to be able to upload to anything current. So that's been my goal, but I'd certainly be willing to try anything a few releases one way or the other.

#105 ·
Ok...don't take anything I ask or say to offense, cause it will be just fast questions and to the point....
1. Who said their is a 15xxxxx Version.....
2Version you are on now..
3.Do you have the Part Number of your Radio, white label on top...

Those numbers they tell you look very close the the actually Service bulletin numbers....
Example:

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES SERVICE BULLETIN 08-051-11, DATED AUGUST 20,
2011, WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR FILES. ALL REVISIONS ARE
HIGHLIGHTED WITH **ASTERISKS** AND INCLUDE DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO
REQUEST RADIO THEFT CODES IN DEALERCONNECT.

#110 ·
You're gonna Hate after this is over....LOL....Have you ever tried to Google a site or anything you know you have seen before but it looks changed?

Well I have this little Trick...Put this in your Google Bar...

mofv.com/mygig rbz rb2

Ok, DON:T hit enter yet....Click to bring down Search Dates.....do a custom, start date anytime 2011....end date can be today....now hit Search....
That will bring up anything that was going on then.....

DON"T click on anything....move mouse over to the right area of each result, they are light shaded arrows that appear beside each one....hover over arrow....something pops up to the far right....
go up to Cache ..click cache.....it will show you exactly what that post or site had on it that day....

I do this if a price was changed for example, and no way to prove it,,,,I can...that area can not be changed....it is there FOREVER......LOl....

#111 ·
You will see there wasn't enough time for a Version that whoever said that number...but each of those results, (oh yeah, go up to where it lets you list as Date or Revelance) so it will put them in order of date...

Check this site out per:TSB MyGIG RBZ / RB2 Germaneon

There's a TSB for the MyGIG RBZ/RB2. It concerns vehicles built between 05/01/2011 and 01/10/2012 and equipped with MyGIG RBZ/RB2. The MyGIG can wake up after the vehicle was shut down and drain the battery.

==> http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0802512.pdf

The problem will be solved by a software update. Even if your vehicle is pre-may-2011 built you can update the software of your RBZ/RB2. My RB2, for instance, had the application 08.03.02 and now the newest 10.00.11.

Since the site http://mofv.com/mygig/ does not support the RBZ/RB2 you can pm me. There's a German Chrysler Forum that provides that update. I can lead you.

The file size is about 17 MB only and it takes about 10 minutes.

UN4GTBL made a thread about how to update a MyGIG: http://www.caliberforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20106

If you are unexperienced with updating a MyGIG I recommend you to visit your Dodge dealer.
