What did you do to your CJ today?

I suppose I should catch up on what has been done. Took her out of the garage Mahall, pumped up tires, went to go for our first snow ride. Didn't get far, real squirrelly on rear end. Brought her back, bad bearing. Wheel off, it practically puked the axel out in your ands, no puller needed (not good). Bearing welded itself right on axel. Ordered all the parts, a week later it's back together, but we will replace the passenger side while we are in a good rhythm. Still working on/chipping away at electrical stuff.

While I care nothing about a high quality sound system, I will at least replace the 8 track that is in mine!
I don't even have a radio for it. Removed those wires from my harness

Got the Jeep up on blocks today, dropped the fuel tank. Also removed the exhaust from the transmission cross-member back. I needed a better look at the frame. It's not good.

The bad spot near the gas tank isn't bad, about what I expected. The driver's side though, I can put both hands, edge to edge, through the split. (2" x 12") and it continues as a hairline split for another two feet. Starts above the rear axle's front shackle and goes all the way to the transmission cross-member. I was planing to patch the frame in a few spots, but this is a lot worse than expected.

I seriously think I'm better off keeping this Jeep for a few parts and finding another rig to build up... Sad day

Motor mounts, transmission stabilizer bolt and bushings, front hub seals, adjusted front brakes and bled lines. My front hubs were loose, which made it interesting to drive on the highway. They also showed sign of having had water in them. Drives like a dream on the highway now.

Finally had good weather , and motivation, to start reassembling my Dana 30 with the disk brakes. Boy did I get greasy. All I have left to do it attach the calipers and get it back up to hill to my garage and under my jeep.

Should be ready once the weather finally stays warm consistently.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you find one that works out better. And spare parts is a good thing!

Messed around with dash lighting and instruments. Been so long since my Brake light worked.......I had forgotten I had one. I'm gonna have to take the entire dash down one day in warmer weather and make sure I've got good ground and tighten up all of the instrument light fit-ups.

What all did you do to your dash lighting and instrument lights?

I put the dash back together and got most of the wiring organized. I still have four or five unplugged connectors that I don't know where they belong but it runs and I will have time later to track those down. I got all of my gauges working (mostly just previously unplugged wires I think) except fuel and temp. Also got my brake lights working. After tearing everything apart I found a post that showed which fuse was responsible and that was all that was wrong. Oh well, one day I'll learn to check the easy things first..... Still need to fix wipers, install mud flaps and a rear bumper, and fix my defrost duct so I can pass my failed inspection.

I did get the wife in the CJ7 for a ride. She hasn't been super happy that this was my choice for a "practical commuter." She said she smelled like fuel and that it was "jerky" after getting back from supper but at least I got her to go for a ride. Baby steps.
