Saw this on the YJ forum and thought it might be fun to try here

i hit 90, didnt even realize it, i think it was on the parkway and i almost shat my self when i looked at the odometer LOL. i think this is while i was lifted im not sure. i have a 5.2 and it can do 80 with ease.

just getting on the highway if its uphill at the end of the onramp usually sucks. I learned to just let it climb slowly and not try to force it faster.

i do have 3.73 gearing and 32.5" ish tires so its all around good enough:)

Auto parts store near my house cut away a fram and pureolator filter. It had maybe 10 or 20 folds and looked so cheap...and this was a brand new one! So I call bs on anyone who says they have improved.

The cheap Frams (orange can) are still crap. They won't kill an engine, but you can get a better filter for the same $$$. The higher end Frams (particularly the xtended guard) are decent filters though.

I personally use pureones, as they're fairly cheap, easily available, and one of the best without spending a good bit more $$$.

I always use Puralator Pure One filters on my ZJ. They consistently pull some of the best oil filter reviews. I've found it to be the cheapest to buy the oil in the jugs at Walmart and the filter from Meijer. Meijer is a regional store, so a lot of you guys probably don't have them. I usually pay around $25 for 5 qts of Mobile one 10w-30 synthetic and $6 for the filter.

Yup pure one all the way! Idk why they are so hard to find though...gotta get them at advance auto which isn't in Dallas just near my parents in Houston... I use Rotella T6 and it is cheapest at walmart

I did 105-ish in the ZJ once when it had death wobble, bad tires, old springs, and a blown muffler. Man that was scary. Didn't take too much to get it there, though, what with the blown muffler. It was just loud was all.

For oil, I use 5 quarts of 10W40 conventional, 1 quart of ATF+4 (synthetic 10W40 + detergents) and Wix filters. Works great, runs smooth and quiet. I change my oil fairly frequently, too. Probably around every 2500-3000 miles. I don't mind the expense that often if it keeps the engine happy. I just wish it'd keep the electronics happy.

I wouldn't run ATF in the engine full time. The whole detergents thing is a myth from the 50s and 60s when engine oil had a lot less detergents than it does now and ATF had a lot more than it does now. Also, ATF's additive package isn't quite designed to handle combustion byproducts, although with changes that frequent, it's probably not an issue. In addition, ATF+4 is around a 5W-30 or a little lighter in viscosity.

Personally, I've been running Rotella T6 5W-40 and changing every 6k (did an analysis a while ago to confirm that I was good at that mileage, and I'll probably do another this summer). I've been doing the same, but changing at 5k in my mom's 4.0 WJ (hers sees more short trips than mine).
