I figured since the other thread started out as talking about making a club, and what clubs are available, we should have a thread that's just dedicated to setting up trail runs.

The title says it all, and it'll be less cluttered.

So, the 9/18/10 Run to Potato Ridge was a success!

Next item on the schedule is Logandale on 10/23/10 according to McRoberts. Seems like we have a few interested parties! Who all is planning to attend?

If there is anything in the meantime, or someone local wants another rig to ride with them, just post up and see if anyone is available!

Scars are cool. I still have one from when I was a kid breaking plexiglass as a ***** boy at a body shop. I was bending it until it broke so that I could fit it in a dumpster. Needless to say the scar runs all the way down the front of my shin. I have a decent one on my finger from a radiator fan when I was changing an alternator and my wrench slipped. But my favorite one is on my cheek... I guess me and my brother were fighting over a toy and my mom told my brother to let go.

Misspelled and auto corrected on my phone

New rear end layout on the race truck. Looks better but I don't like it. Functionally it sucks... Good luck getting the rear jack out! It involves climbing up into the jungle gym. Yes Merrick, I ended up going with your idea on location, my place just wouldn't work once I got everything else laid out.

Original layout... This view you can see how high they used to sit.

Here you can see the spread they had. The jack used to be VERY easy to get to though!

Unfortunately we found out on race day that not all 35x12.5x15 tires are the same width. I knew that but it hadn't occurred to me to check and make sure other tires would fit in the spare tire setup. The nittos that I built the spare tire holders around happened to be the narrowest tires in the group so nothing else would fit. So cause of that I had to make some change. I could've just kicked the inner bars to the center a hair and been done with it quick and easy but Jason wanted the tires sitting lower for cosmetic reasons. Whatever... I agree it looks way nicer but to get them lower meant they had to be kicked to the center to drop between the frame rails which meant we lost the space we had for the jack and spare oil container so all that had to be moved. Basically I had to redo 100% of everything between the frame rails in the rear including turning the battery mounts 90 degrees and kicking them a bit further forward to clear the new tire layout.

So here's the new setup... I told Jason any future flats we get, he's getting out to help and his job will be to pull the tire out and climb up and get the jack out of the truck. I'll deal with the actual tire change, he can deal with accessing the stuff and putting it back since this is his idea! LOL

Looks good but what's the point of having a jack if you can't actually get to it? That's my issue with it. I'm not happy with how it turned out but it's not my truck so whatever. I just know if it was mine I'd have left it where it was and skipped the insane amount of extra work to make it actually less functional.

BTW, you can't even get CLOSE to touching the jack with the fenders on like you thought you'd be able to. The only way to get to it is to actually climb up in there which is a pain in the butt cause of how high that rear bumper is. Like I said, I told jason, any future flats, he's getting the jack out.

I think it looks nice. Quick question though why do you keep the straps so long for the tire hold downs? I guessing in case you need to hold something else in place or something right?
Exactly... First race they were used as a tow rope and engine mount. I do intend to eventually cut them a bit shorter for sure though. The one on the pass side is like 800000000000000' long.

Let me be co-driver and I'll change the flats. Haha
