Well i'm starting to compile some parts for my jeep so i figured i should start my build thread. I'm just gonna go ahead and list off everything that i have recieved so far and what i've already done to the jeep. Most of it will be in no order.
This is the first day i got it... or like a week later but all it did was sit in the yard.
Had to take it lightly wheeling
After i got it on the road i decided i didn't like the air dam.
I spent a lot of time on this next decision cause i wanted a shift knob like no other. Just cause io have to be original. I finally remembered Petey. so i ripped him a new *** hole and with a few washers and some all-thread and a lock nut and viola!
Then i realised how ****ty the headlights really are. I'm a sucker for sealed beams though. so i had took apart my old caddy's headlight assembly, and with a piece of signpost and some more all-thread i had a new light bar and 2 aux lights. Will put up a pic of this soon and the other things i've done soon!
As for the name, i'm still really undecided. i was thinking Kilroy. open to any suggestions. may be painted in the future so no names based on color.
My mom would kick me out. I can't afford the insurance anyways. only 2 of them are on the road. one is sitting in a field full of bullet holes and the other isn't here yet cause I'm waiting on the guy selling it to take the plow mount off.
Well there is your answe then. . . . 4 vehicles minus the one with the plow mount on it. . . Don't buy that one. Minus the one in the field. . . No way that one counts. That leaves you with what? The Jeep and a DD? Turn the Jeep into a trail only rig and pick up the Durango to haul it. Sounds perfect to me.
no I'm buying a new jeep to have as a trail rig. thats the one with the plow mount right now. The cadillac is my DD but I'll be selling that for something new soon if the gas doesn't drop again. The other cadillac is coming back to my property soon as well.
I also sat in it and messed with my radio for about an hour. I got mine from Amazon. I got it and a tunable antenna wiring and a antenna mount for less than 100 bucks.
Cool deal. I think a buddy at work has an extra one with a 4' antenna that he'll sell me for $30-$40. The antenna was too long for where he wanted to mount it on his xterra. Yes, he "wheels" an xterra, but I try not to hold that against him. I went up to Rausch Creek with him and his xterra buddies (rich guys that like to buy expensive *** **** for their vehicles only to drive on mountain access roads with them or take every bypass possible around the smallest of obstacles). . . I rode ***** and it was NOT fun.
Oh and how they like to talk **** about all Jeeps and their owners. It reminds me of short man's syndrome. They are so insecure about their rigs that they have to lash out at the obviously superior ones.
Oh, I joke and bust balls, but I am by no means a Jeep snob. I dig ALL flavors of rigs. I like xterra's and FJ's. Xterra's are expensive to modify though. . . Not to mention the inital cost of the vehicle. I just don't get dumping that much money into something you're wheeling. At the same time you wouldn't find me buying a new JK and wheeling it either. That's the reason my buddy with the Xterra and bis buddy's don't do anything fun and exciting when "wheeling" . . . They are terrified to get a scratch on their pretty DD's, because they're still making huge payments, which I completely understand.
I respect anyone who brings their vehicle offroad and at least attempts to see what they can do. At the beginning of the day wheelin with the hummer, the owner had never wheeled it and asked to ride along with me. I told him you have to at least try some trails. He complained and whined for a good hour or two, but after that we couldnt keep him from the mud. I like the look of the fj's, I was asked to install a lift kit on one. I welcome anyone to wheel with me, just dont be hating on the jeeps and afraid to drive your own 4x4.
Well... the missing went a lot better than expected. I had to get that Christmas trash to the burn pit somehow! And the other ride... well it sure was bumpy.
