But tonite as I rode home with the top off I really loved my rust-bucket YJ! At damn near 300k she still runs strong and I won't give it up for the world. She just isn't so pretty right now so some cosmetic work is coming, but after a long time w/o it and just military vechiles it was twice as sweet.

Just figured y'all would get it more so than the rest of the site. ;)

The gas price posts a few pages back brought back a fond memory. I was 15, turning 16 in a few months. I got my first vehicle, a '91 YJ with the 4.0L and a 5-speed. The reason we got it before I could get my drivers license was so I had time to learn to drive a stick. I had done it before in my granddad's old S10 when I was 13 (probably not a lot of that going on these days, but he lives in a very small town). Turned 16, Dad took me to get my license. Passed the test with flying colors. And about a week later, the first time I filled it up on my own. $14 later it was on F. Gas was under $0.90 a gallon, and it was a 15 gallon tank. Ahhhhh, those were the days. The freedom of being 16, in a Jeep with the top and doors off, and cheap gas. Fast forward about 16 years and it takes about $50-60 to fill up my TJ.

I remember when gas broke two bucks a gallon. I drove past the gas station one night, needing gas but feeling too tired to stop and thinking "yeah I can make it home. I'll just fill in the morning."

Next morning came and I stopped at the gas station. Gas had gone up something like $.08 overnight and was now at $2.03. I remember panicking and thinking "Sh*t well I guess I won't be driving anymore. How the hell could people afford that?" It cost me like $35 to fill the TJ up. Fast forward to now and I would do a lot of things to be able to fill the Jeep up from red to Full for only $35!

Cheers

Good service from TeraFlex. My oil pan skidplate arrived today, 2 days shipping time. Top shelf.

Too cold right now to install it.
The skid uninstalled:
Medium beefy, perhaps 1/8th inch thick.
Looks easy enough to install. the instructions say for TJ only, but it IS drilled out for a YJ, depending on the exhaust pipe. I have a TJ style pipe, so I am hopeful on the fitment.
Not real sure what kind of hit it will prevent, but one can never have enough armor.

Will post a pic when the deed is done.

Psh my Facebook is like the Maury show with all the people I went to high school and college with. Need to feel better about my life? I just spend an hour or 2 scrolling through some of their posts and I smile and crawl back under the jeep. I had a girl complain I haven't changed the profile pic in 2 years, so I changed it to a pic of the jeep. First reply "it looks better in pics then it does in person"

I'd rather be tied to a chair and forced to listen to Taylor Swift for ten hours than waste two hours of my life scrolling through Facebook... I think IQs drop ten points as soon as people log in there.

I don't have a FB either! :highfive:
Bunch a grown *** people stalking each others every move, all the while perpetuating the pettiness and clique-y-ness of high school. Yeah I'll pass.

I thought I was the only person alive at this point without a facebook. Glad I'm not alone haha!

Cheers

I thought MySpace was dead.
New... Myspace. I thought there weren't rocks in Florida, how'd you find one to live under? Lol. They changed a whole bunch of crap, made it very similar to Facebook and marketed it towards artists. Last I heard it's in Beta. Just more crap that'll last as long as it takes for someone to make something else.

I don't really use Facebook anymore. I have one and I go on but I don't do anything with it except post pictures I take.
