Time for a T&T Customs project of a different sort.

After attempting to push the Low Wagon to its limits our GM, Rod, decided he wanted to build something that had a real "frame" underneath it ;).

The build plan.......

Begin with a 94' YJ, discard the YJ front clip and use a CJ front clip. Rod's been used to the cargo room of his XJ and has a couple boys so added space is also desired. Our solution for that is to add 15" between the door opening and the wheelwell making the tub the same length as an LJ while retaining a nice departure angle. The YJ frame will of course get stretched accordingly and suspension duties will be fullfilled by our YJ Rock-Tek coil conversion, with a few tweaks to account for the added length

Other specs include,
- T&T Fenders & Corners w/ 3" flares
- T&T Guardian sliders
- T&T Guardian front bumper
- T&T High Clearance rear XMBR
- T&T Cage
- Front HP Dana 44/60 Hybrid w/ 5.13's and 35 spline ARB & T&T axle truss
- Rear Ford Truck 8.8 w/ Moser 9" housing ends, 35 spline spool & 35 spline alloy shafts & T&T mounts
- 3.8 Atlas
- PSC Extreme Duty Hydraulic Assist
- 17" Trailready Beadlocks
- 39" Irok Radials
- Genright YJ EXT Tank
- Warn 9.5ti

Enough words....time for pics!

The frame is rusted out so we'll get it stripped and its off to scrap. We've got one from a buddy out of Reno, NV that's rust free that we'll use instead.

Decided to take the tub and have it sandblasted, was worth every cent! We had an old welding table that'll work perfect for mocking the body up on while I repair rust spots and build the panels to reconnect the two halves.

Mocked up the corner blanks

Stay tuned as I start patching up some of the rust spots and put the tub back together.

Started cutting out the "cancerous" portions of the tub

Like new! :D

Was a little concerned about what to do here.

Turned out not too bad. I know it doesn't match the factory piece as far as being recessed in the middle, plus we had to weld in the seam but it's going to be covered up with side panels similar to our TJ ones so luckily it won't be seen.

Sub'd plan to do this too someday.

It's finally time to start grafting the two tub halves back together

Thankfully we had a junk YJ sitting outside that we were able to cut the needed panels from. Once we quadrupled checked all our measurements we cut them down to the correct length and welded the PS one in place. For those who are curious we added 15 3/8" in front of the wheel well.

Someone told me that it's better to run large panels with rounded edges when possible to avoid corners which can crack. Made sense to me so thats what I did although they neglected to mention is how much of a PITA it is to trim the round panel for fitment.

Now for the drivers side....

Hope this means you guys are going to offer some real cowl protection in the near future.

Now that Jeep Safari is over its time to get back to building!

Next step was to start inserting the floor sections. We're going to do it in three pieces, an end piece in front of each wheel well then a center piece that will run between them.

End view of the end filler panel. I've got it upside down actually, the side that is pointed up will connect to where the factory floor board extends back several inches as well as to the center section piece. The front edge overlaps the factory floor while the rear runs under the wheel well. The side pointed down will connect to the side of the tub.

Here's the passenger side prepped.

Predrilled all the outer spot weld holes

Tacked in place

Fitting up the drivers side

Drivers side tacked in

We should be able to get the center piece cut this week and hopefully installed next weekend.
