What did you do to your ZJ today?

This thread is to serve as an inspiration to others modifying their ZJ's. Pretty simple, just post what you did to your ZJ today!

Today I shamefully took my Jeep to get the oil changed because it was to hot to change it myself.

Yeah. You've gotta change the engine / trans, and then the entire engine wiring harness (just within the engine bay, IIRC, the other stuff is the same). Basically, you need a whole parts ZJ to do it reasonably, that way you can just swap over anything you find you need to while you're going through it.
When I was putting the new motor in mine i was really surprised at how lil wiring was really in there. Once the motors out it looks waaaay less intimidating!

Turbo Encabulator

drove the niner for work last night bout 5 hours in the 3" snow roads were slick AF the LSD works amazingly as long as I did not hit the gas I could putt right out in to traffic as soon as i did tho she was sideways only need 4wd 3or4 times when climbing a few hills. One hill I got about 1/2 way up jeep started sliding backwards popped the 242 in PT and away she went. Reason I did not just stay in 4 all night was it has a hell wine I thing its either coming from the tc font out put bearing or the D30. But would not the pinion still howl in 2wd if it was bad?
When mine was doing that I found the solution in this video and a beer!

I would think you would have the noise in 2wd if it was the pinion or the front output bearing of the tc, as those parts are always moving. Does it do it in all 4wd ranges?

Changing the motor in this case is the same as swapping in any factory option motor into any car, after the invention of Electronic Fuel Injection. You need the following:

Motor
Transmission
Engine wiring harness
Transmission wiring harness (where applicable)
Engine Control Unit
Appropriate exhaust system
Appropriate motor mounts

Rarely, a manufacturer will also have different driveshafts depending on model, or sometimes things will be drastically different (I'm looking at you Isuzu). Other times, you don't even need anything behind the motor because that's all the same on all the different models. (I love you Nissan)

For the Jeep, I know I need the 5.2, its mounts, its tranny, its wiring, and its PCM. That's all that's required. That said, I'll also be using its axles (3.73, possibly a rear posi, versus my open 3.55s) and I'll be grabbing a few bits from around and inside the parts Jeep as well. I figured I'd get a whole parts Jeep because it'd cost the same as just finding a motor from a Dakota or something.

Anybody into sport coupes from the 80's and 90s? I'm trying to find something I like that has 5 speeds, 4 cylinders, 3 pedals, 2 doors, and 1 low center of gravity, and while I came from that scene, I don't know what I like anymore. I've recently discovered the Ford Sierra was imported as the Merkur XR4Ti and that has me interested, but the only guy in the state that has one has a fairly lame one, especially for his asking price. Any ideas beyond the whole S13/14 vs RX7 thing? I've already done that.

I'm super not interested in SN95s. No offense to your buddy, but I'm just not a Ford guy. Occasionally one rolls by that strikes me, but otherwise... Plus, I'm a bit more into the I4 tuning scene and I keep solid axles for my Jeep. ;) (Though I would consider putting a 302 into an XR4Ti. Apparently it's super straightforward)

How about a boxer style 4 cylinder? Thats what is in my Subaru. a 96 Legacy L Wagon AWD. Everyone that seen it siting in the back of my Jeep asked where i got the VW engine... Should of seen the look on people's faces when i said its not a VW aircool its a Subaru..

on topic I tried to fix my sunroof seal.

I have thought about getting an obd2 5.0 and putting in my zj. Or a zj. There's plenty of aftermarket support for them. I'm sure it wouldn't to to bad. Get a stand alone ecu a trans controller for the ford trans. And fab up some motor and trans mounts. I almost bought a 351 Windsor for 200$ which would have been sweet. But my dad would have been pi$$ed with a motor and a torn appart jeep in his barn. Haha
