This happened to my dad in his scout. Or maybe his cj7 he hit slid and hit the tire on the curb and then had a shop fix it then saw it roll past him. Haha
When past expiriences scare you from doing something but you figure you might as well learn.
It was on road but not up to speed. Didnt really just drop hard. Felt like the back sunk in a hole and then grinding sound of metal on asphalt. And a fire hauling azs past me with a axle attached.
When you have no heater because the plenum may as well been made out of glass by how many cracks it develops.
When you have run out of insults for the "geniuses" who thought 2.73 gears were acceptable in an off-road application.
When that one nancy tourist boy in his new jeep looks like you're from mars when you roll by in the CJ with your big meats, bumpers designed to run over a boulder or bear, and every-other accessory that screams SHTF, offroad and babe-magnet ready.

Hi Everyone...I hate to say this but my (when I finish it this winter) 1947 CJ2A will never see off road or mud...I have way over spent on my project and all I want is to be able to drive mine to my job which about 11 miles away....all paved roads.
When you have a copy of Chiltons, Haynes and Clymer because you can find the information in one book, but can't find the information in one of the others.
When you spend hours at the junkyard in the rain to cut a YJ tub in half because your CJ needs the rear floor pan replaced. And now everyone laughs at your half a jeep in the garage.
When you strap your daughters car seat in the back to go to church and the pastor tells you "God is going to give you a father ticket."
.....we changed churches the next week.
When your clutch goes, and you speed shift, grinding gears the whole way home. But you're not worried about it because the transmission is getting replaced next.
I plan on doing a hydraulic clutch here very soon. From all the feedback I've read in all of the forums is that it eliminates this problem. Looks like it can be done with a kit from Parts Mike or Noviac for around $200....or you can probably do it for less by finding the parts seperately. I'll probably go with one of the kits...still researching to find what works best with my configuration. I have a 84 CJ7 with the 258 and a NP435. If anyone has this setup and any tips...it would be much appreciated!

Well make sure to do the jeep wave, because they sure as heck don't.
You know you drive a CJ when you flick the gas tank to tell the fuel level, because the gauge doesn't work.
You know you drive a CJ when you can hear every moving part whine, shake and rattle going down the road, and when the sound changes you know something is wrong.
Isn't Jeep Audio the engine sounds, the brakes grabbing, the backfiring, squeaking and rattling, the hole in the exhaust all combining together to produce the CJ (Concert Jeep)
BTW, what's this "drive" thing. Those sounds are when it starts in the driveway. I haven't driven it on the road for years.

I can usually tell what is making noise or what fell off but I had a real head scratcher today...
Had a great 60 or 70 mile drive, and right at the end I hit a huge bump, and it sounded like my frame snapped but no issues with steering or ride level, so I kept going. Hit another bump and got another loud snap, but this time like something on the road flew up and hit the inside of my fender.
Got home safely, the whole time wondering how much this is going to cost me.
Turns out my fan shroud is really floppy and it flexed in and the fan took a bite out of it and tossed it out with some force... I am going to see if omix stands behind their product, I am not getting my hopes up.
