transmission fluid leaking from sensors? or wires? help :/

So, I was told my transfer case is bad. I see 2 sensors on the transmission covered in fluid. I have already changed the speed sensor, but it looks like it is leaking from the wire. Also there is another sensor which I don't know what it is, it is also leaking but worse. Do I need to change the wiring? Could this be the cause of my gear slipping? Any help is appreciated.

Lines look OK.
Thats the neutral safety switch and the output speed sensor that are leaking. If the speed sensor is new, get a warranty replacement.

How is the fluid level? Checked while running in neutral?
Neither will cause slipping.

Thanks guys! I will start there and see if it helps. No fluid leaks on the driveway, and the levels stay good. I do check the fluid regularly, and occasionally need to add a little tranny fluid.
This poor zj has had a lot of problems. I'm getting a new one but, I brought this one back from the dead, would love to keep her for a toy!

Ok, so if this won't make the trans slip... Can the bad transfer case cause slipping. It started occasionally and happens often now. But always goes in gear eventually. Or, maybe I killed the transmission by driving 6000 with a bad transfer case? I want to fix her but not if the tranny is shot.

If its gets bad enough you'll end up like my 5.9 did and leak a quart of atf through the sensor overnight... Its best to replace it now.. Its only $15 or so at advance auto parts... Take a 1 inch deep 6 point socket and a 3 inch extention and a socket wrench obviously..

Your sensor is the older version.. right here, they have em in advance auto and stuff, get yourself a quart of atf+4 as well and have your oil pan ready when you pull it out youll lose around 1/2 or a quart of atf

is it slipping from a start? only on first start up? slipping between gears? delayed engagement from like park to drive?

when was the fluid and filter last changed?
try a torque converter stall test
warm it up on a drive
engage the service and emergency brakes
place in drive and put the throttle to the floor.
watch the tach once the rpm levels off or you reach 10 seconds remove foot from the gas and place trans in neutral a minute or two to cool the fluid.
repeat 3-5 times and average the results.
if the rpm flares past 2500 remove your foot from the gas immediately
the stock stall speed of the torque converter is 2000rpm +/- 200rpm anything over or under that is considered a failed torque converter.

if the rpm flares above 2500-3000 then you have bad clutches in the transmission.

It slips between 2-3 and 3-4 after it gets warmed up. For example, I get on the highway and it doesn't want to shift to 4 so I have to drive lightly to keep the rpm down. I can release the throttle, pop it to n , then back to d, then it will usually find the gear. I try not to do that too often. But it drives...lol

I had to replace my NSS switch and it had been leaking for a while. Are you sure you checking the auto trans fluid the right way.... The old style Mopar RE series trannies are checked in Neutral not Park. If its correct in Park it will be low in Neutral because they don't pump fluid in Park, only Neutral.

You been checking it in Park?
Just warm up the trans (drive it) stop, shift the shift lever through each position and end in Neutral, set parking brake and check it.
BTW, on the dipstick there are 2 small circles, they are the cold add and fill range marks. So if you have to check it with the trans cold (feel the fluid on the dipstick if its cool the trans is cold) you can go by them, and when it warms up (when the trans is hot, the fluid on the end of the stick will be very warm or too hot to keep your hand on) the level will be pretty close to fine. I usually get mine in the middle between add and full.
