It seems that most canyons are closed during the winter - does anyone know of any pretty winter trails/drives that we could take when it snows?

ah, then you should do hells revenge in the snow :)
It started hailing once while I was at escalator during safari. That was way fun to finish the trail in! Lol

Boreal and I ran in with snow packed down on the trail in areas. bad idea. you slide down obstacles then hit the dry sandstone... with snow falling is one thing, when there is snow on the trail, that can get scary really fast. I might be wrong, but isn't that what happened to that couple near sandy or draper died last year? jeep slid off the trial, rolling to their death.

I'm pretty sure I was with you guys on that one. Jan of last year... when I had that bungee door! That was an interesting trip with the snow!

ok so the weather report is looking like sun sun bloody sun in the future. So that means we are for sure going to skyline drive. Travis checked out the parking lot today on his way to moab and said it was dry dirt with snow on the sides of the trail. So there may or may not be snow up higher. Could end up being us exploring the trail. Ive included directions below to the gandolfos/chevron gas station off the freeway. we will meet there at 9 and leave shortly after.

Any questions, comments, concerns from anyone but Matt(801dubjay) are welcome.

Thanks!

Thats what I was thinking. What time do you think you will be at the trail head? because Im not driving to spanish fork and then back to the trail lol. Im still not for sure going.. but it would be fun if I can make it :)

yes, the one you were told to go to was in saratoga springs.. but that was when the plan was the cell phone towers.

Now the trail plan has changed to skyline. So the meeting place is the chevron in spanish fork. You cant miss it. Take the spanish fork/price exit and stay left once you hit the exit. you will then curve left over the highway towards the mountains and the chevron is on your left hand side at the first stop light (not counting the one on the overpass)

hope that helps

someone correct me if I am wrong

Sorry I was out shopping all day so I haven't answered. This chevron in in Spanish fork. A few posts back I posted directions from Orem, there is also a link to google maps you can click to see exactly where it is. Meeting tomorrow at the Spanish fork chevron at 9am. PM me if you would like my cell number in case your running behind or whatever. I suspect we will leave chevron at 930 at the latest.

Trail will start out dirt and could change to mud and possibly snow up higher. No guarantees on the snow though.

They'll end up hitting 5 feet of powder and the best snow run of the year and you'll miss it.

One can only hope. It may just turn into me exploring that trail. On google it's huge and branches off in a ton of places.
That sounds soooo fun. I do that on west mountain and the east bench all the time!
