Well folks, I said I was going back to an XJ so that's what I did. Just a recap on my previous Jeeps...

My first XJ the day I sold it. 95' Sport 5 speed...

My second.... 87' Waggy XJ w/ factory 44 and HP non disco 30. Wish I kept this one...

And of course, my TJ I just recently sold....

Well after my TJ, I started looking for my next XJ. I knew I wanted a 97'+, so that's what I went after. While searching craigslist, I came across a 99' with 130k miles. Girl that owned it said it needed a radiator. All it really needed was a cap. Talked her down to $1600 and brought it home. Had some awesome seat covers and looked and smelled like an ash tray inside...

Did you not read my question?

IF you didn't do shock through the floor, what would the potential issues/draw backs be:rtft:
I know he has shocks through the floor, I'm asking the draw backs of 35's without them through the floor:rofl:
It depends on the amount of lift you have. You have to trade up travel with down travel and have the shock body fit in the small amount of space under the jeep.

Yup, Alex has it right. I wanted to mount my lower shock mounts on top of the axle so they were out of the way. My lower mount is currently on the spring plate. The only shock I could could have mounted there would have been a stock style shock with no travel, so that wasn't happening. After I did the hoops, I continued (and still am) running the 10 inch shocks I had. Eventually, after I get to doing some shackle relocation brackets and redoing the springs, I will go to a 12 inch shock because it will give me the most down travel and just enough up travel.

I think I'm going to finish bracing up the rockers this weekend. Going to pull all the carpet and seats and give them a good cleaning. Yes, it's a trail turd, but I like the carpet. I've had an XJ before that I had no carpet in and well, it's too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. I actually want this Jeep to be halfway comfortable.

im with you, the idea of no carpet makes so much sense. but like you said it sucks. first thing i did when i got my jeep was pulled the carpet and ripped all the padding out some under it. that made a big differnce. and i also cut the carpet when the rear plugs are. i can have my carpet out in about 10min which is what i want. maybe something to look into for you.

I can have all of mine out in about a minute flat because I have cut it to fit like floor mats but you can't tell unless you actually know you can remove it an you an see 0 floor pan

^^^ May be breaking even, eh?

BTW - been scrolling through your build - got through the install of the rear shock hoops and tire carrier so far - kick @$$ work my friend!
Thanks man! The hoops rock though I did cut the tire carrier off, just wasn't really liking it anymore. Now I just lay the tire on the floor.

Been a while since I updated. I have decided to redo my rigged exhaust ONCE again. I bought a new tail pipe and Thrush glass pack. Haven't gotten anything done between work and the crazy amounts of school work I have had. Hopefully I will be getting on it this weekend. Inspection is next month so I need to get some brakes on this b!tch too! :D
