Introducing MONSTALINER™ UV Permanent DIY Roll On Bed Liner

Hi All,

We are a new advertiser on jeepforum.com and I just want to introduce myself, our company and a very interesting new product.

My name is Eric and I have 25+ years experience in coatings manufacturing.
Our company Magnet Paints, is focused on industrial maintenance and commercial fleet refinish coatings,
epoxy and urethane concrete floor coatings and automotive restoration paints.

We are also the manufacturers of Chassis Saver™ Rust Preventive Truck & Auto Underbody Coating.
Chassis Saver is a high performance alternate to POR-15 at 45% lower cost.

For the past 5 years, our lab has been developing and fine tuning a roll on bed liner product.
The product has evolved through 3 generations of testing, development and field trials and has just been
commercialized and is available for sale.

I have personally been involved with installations on more than 20 vehicles in the last 4 years in which
my feedback and experience alone was the determining factor that the product was complete and ready for release.

Monstaliner started as a pet project. One of our employees had used a widely popular DIY bed liner on his
personal truck and was not so pleased with the outcome. He came into work one day with a mission and
for almost a year, he kept badgering the chemists in our lab to develop a better product.

One day after getting tired of listening to this guy rant, we sat down and mapped out what a
new generation do-it-yourself bed liner would have to offer to be successful. A first, we just toyed with the
project but we knew that a much better product was possible compared to those already on the market.

So here we are, very proud to present:

MONSTALINER™ High Performance DIY Roll On Bed Liner

I don't want to write a book here so I will post the web site link for all who are curious to check this out on their own time.

As an introduction special and for the rest of this month at least,
we are offering free shipping on anything sold on the web site.

Just use Promo Code "FSBL-1" when ordering either online or by phone.

Everyone, anyone... please feel free to ask any questions. I am always available to help.

Best Regards
magnetman
Monstaliner do-it-yourself roll-on truck bed liner

PS: We are looking for dealers in markets involving Jeep, Truck, 4x4 and Off-Roading.
If anyone with a legit business either online or offline has interest, just get in touch and we can
work with you to make something happen.

I guess MAGNETMAN fell off the face of the earth. If your out there, please respond to my pm from a couple of weeks ago. I have certianly gone out of my way to promote your products in my build thread as well as this forum just as others have. We all understand that you are busy, but you are busy because people like us are buying your products and provoking others to do so as well. I don't feel that I am asking too much for you to respond to pm's that were sent weeks ago as well as posts that were directed specifically to you.
You're better off calling him than raging on the Internet. It got me no where. Eric followed through with his word, I suggest you calm down and call him...

Not only have I called and left messages, but I have also stopped by (I live about 20 min away) and he wasn't in. I also don't believe I was, as you put it, "raging". Simple statements of fact. His business is thriving because of people like us. He has chosen to promote his business on this site and for one reason or another he has abandoned it for some time now. It's just a matter of right and wrong. I don't believe I'm asking too much especially since his last response to one of my posts a couple weeks ago was " inovermyhead,I will pm you tonight". Needless to say, I haven't heard from him. This is not an Eric bashing session by any means. I like him and I respect him very much, It's another attempt to get his attention since other methods have failed over the past few weeks. I am trying to spend another $3-400 dollars more worth of his product. I shouldn't have to beg him to do that.

magnet man is in the middle of moving his entire operation. there is going to be some patience needed until he get's established in his new location. the only reason he has grown so much is from forums like this one and people like us that have put out the word of his amazing product and even more amazing customer service. so for those that are getting irate about Eric's absence then all i can say is you have no one to blame but everyone on this thread for doing just as i mentioned. .

oh and...

9000th post!

Got my first coat done today.. Any tips on making this stuff not thicken up so quick in the sealed container? Once I mixed it all it started to get thick after 30 mins in 65 degree weather... Thought I saw somewhere to add 4oz of MEK?? Also, how long has anyone let this stuff sit before doing the second coat? It's inside for the night, & I was gonna tackle it again in the morning. Would I be ok doing a second coat after like 12 hours?

#9,002 ·
You are gonna be cutting it close and I would say you're not gonna make it. You can add some MEK and stir it up really well but I dunno. Good luck.

I'd pour some on top and let it set. sealed..hell I might put it in the fridge but not sure what the cold would do so don't do that lol.

#9,005 ·
You can do the second coat after as little as 3 hours

If I let it dry overnight do I need to scuff it down, or can I just mix the last gallon & go?
I believe that as long as you recoat within 24 hrs you will be okay without scuffing.

Learn some patience. You don't know what is going on in this mans life so, chill out and STFU.
REALLY? You're going to verbally attack me now? I did not state anything that wasn't the truth or derogatory in any way and you're telling me to STFU? I actually feel sorry for ignorant people like you. If you want to know the whole truth, Eric and I spoke a couple of months ago and he asked if I would bring my CJ to his shop to spray it with Monstaliner. He thought it would be good for publicity and he never did a CJ before and thought it would be a cool project. He wanted to do it in September. This was back in July when we first planned this. He was going to donate the materials as well but I prefer to pay for them since we both benefit from the deal. In the meantime, my Cj which has undergone a frame off resto (see build thread) has been waiting for a final finish and September is almost gone, the cold weather is coming here in NY and Eric is nowhere to be found. I'm not angry in any way, I just want a response as to weather or not we are going to do this project together. I'm running out of good weather and since I replaced about 70 percent of the metal on my tub, I don't want it to sit too much longer under a tarp ( I don't have a garage ) without a final finish on it. If he decided against the project, it's not a problem, I just need to know so I can figure out a plan B.

Nice, thanks alot
No! For the tintable liner it needs to be done before 8 hrs later. Or you have to scuff everything up again. Magnet man pmed me personally to tell me that after I said I was going to wait till the next day for the second coat. I ended up doin the 2nd coat around 11pm because of this. :(

Edit: only black monsta can go 24hrs without scuffing.

I believe Eric will extend the Promo, If you order and go to the check out screen and add promo codes it still should work, you will be able to tell before you commit...
For the Chassis save you need to add one to your cart then use the promo code for it to work (ask me how I know that...:)

#9,016 ·
I finally got around to placing an order for a tintable gallon with the Medium Quartz, the quart of silver Chassis Saver, and the econo shutz gun. This will be for lining the bottom of the tub. I'm in central Florida, so I'm going to wait another 4 weeks, and by then, hopefully it will be cooler, and less humid.

So I bought the Monstaliner 2-gallon + Chassis Saver kit about 2 years ago with the forum deal. After completing multiple projects and getting the opportunity, I finally opened the first gallon of the Monstaliner to coat my newly fabricated & CS coating trailer tub. I found about the bottom 1/3rd of the can was a solidified rubber/gum like compound. I shook the crap out of the can and mixed it best I could with the wood stick + drill motor thingy (which subsequently bent) for at least 15 minutes. I added the activator and coated the trailer tub and tailgate, and tried to break the solidified mess at the bottom of the can down with MEK to no avail. What remained seemed to coat well, but not quite as thick as I'd hoped. Seems like I lost some product? Does this Monstaliner stuff have a short shelf life? Any suggestions from the vendor?

Well, I'm not sure I would call 2.5 years a "short shelf life"....seems like a long time to store any type of paint. You should probably contact Monstaliner (Magnet Paints) and discuss this with them.

I am getting ready to do my install on my monstaliner and had a question on prepping. Has anyone had any issues with removing the factory seam sealer? Mine is peeling off on some spots and I am afraid that if I lay the monstaliner over it it will just come off later along with the liner. I have seen some pics in this thread and it looks like its been done before. But just ask g before I can go back in my work!

I just took a blade and removed all the old seam sealer, bought a tube of new 3M seam sealer at a auto paint supply store, laid down a new bead. Once it cures (24hrs or less) you can put the ML right over it, that's what I did.

Do you have any pics of the seam sealer after you laid it down? I would assume to lay down a beam like you would if you we're chalking a bath tub! And I would only need to run a bead along the edges correct? I'm mainly talking about we're the tub steps up near the rear seat. And did you do anything for what it looks like sheets of sealer?

#9,029 · (Edited)
I didn't take any pics of the sealer but you're right, just put a bead down like you are caulking a bathtub and smooth it with your finger. It doesn't have to be perfect since the ML is going to hide any imperfections. Just the edges, inside corners where the sheet metal of the tub and fenders meet. The seam sealer comes in a caulking tube and fits in a standard caulking gun. You can run a bead all the way down each side all the way along the sides and down where the roll bar bolts up...just anywhere you want a nice seam.

Unlimited I just read on the monstaliner website that the shelf life on an unopened can will last up to 12months! I'm surprised you got anything after waiting 2 1/2 years!

My dad has a really rusty old roof on his 72 ford service truck and he wants to clean it up good as he can then i guess use a spray on rust reformer then maybe some bondo and then he wanted to use a bedliner and i told him about Monsta liner but my question is im not sure to go with the 1 gallon roll on monsta liner or if it would be better to use the 1 gallon gloss black chassis saver instead? Any help would be great hes gonna be placing an order for whichever here real soon. Thanks. :cheers2:

Thanks for the advice. I am doing a LJ tub and hope that the 1 gal kit I got will be enough. I was also wondering about the drain holes. I replaced all the factory metal plugs with the JK style rubber plugs. My worry is that the ML will be to thick for the plugs to stay in place. But it hard to tell in some of the pics from other members projects. Do you have any insight or suggestions on this as well or does anyone else have any advice on this matter? And how high do you recommend going up the side of the tub? I have seen some that go up over the lip where the soft top slides into. My kids have scratched the top of the tub up so I thought about doing the lip as well!

#9,081 ·
I pulled all my drain plugs, not sure if they are the same style on your LJ...I plugged all threaded holes with those squishable earplugs-you can buy them cheap at Wally World or a drugstore. Just coat the entire tub, 2 coats, and pull the ear plugs from the threaded holes as soon as you're done with the 2nd coat. I used 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" taps to just chase the threads once it had cured so I didn't have any problems putting everything back together. If you don't have the taps go to your local parts store and buy a cheap set-I bought a nice set just so I don't have to worry about the cheap ones breaking off in hole I'm threading for other times, but a cheap set would fine for cleaning up these threads.

#9,032 ·
I did the lip and it fits just fine with the soft top. I don't have any problems with the drain plugs as I took mine out. BUT..before i did that I ran with them in. They stayed put just fine.

definitely not. the underside of my jeep was within an inch of the muffler at one point. neither the liner under the jeep or inside the jeep directly above the muffler became even slightly soft. this stuff holds up very well to radiant heat.
