Having the weirdest starter issues. Can anyone help. New batt new cables solenoid. But cranks over very slow like the batt is dead also the starter starter and positive batt wire get real hot. So figured it was resistance in the starter replaced it same deal. Does anyone know what could cause this.

I know heat causes resistance. Could the new cables be thinner causing a prob that wasn't there before. Just a thought I'm not an expert
I used 4 gauge I have thought that as well

do you have a dedicated ground from starter to battery?
Electricity flows in a circle, poor ground connection is as debilitating as a poor hot connection.
Yeah I have an engine ground on the block and one on the Starter

what about shims? I assume you can check the pattern with a little grease, like you would do to a differential?
and have you tried jumping it at the solenoid? May help narrow down where your problem is.
where'd you get the parts? I've gotten lots of bad parts from autozone. and some from kragen. But not many from napa. I've gotten a bunch of bad batteries from walmart.

Used three different batt nothing will crank my WJ wagoneer and bel air up fine. I have jumped the solenoid as well still slow turning

only other idea i've got is timing. Maybe chain jumped a tooth and there's too much resistance in the engine?
Probably not, but just throwing ideas out
any difference in neutral/park
I have been thinking timing it does seems like there is resistance but just seems like the battery or something weird it's making me mad lol

uh oh
could be a little from all the cranking and not running, but a lot is definetly uh-oh
manual fuel pump leaking into crankcase?

I was looking at a ford forum last night. I'm so glad I drive jeeps. ford guys are ******bags. EVERYBODY was complaing about grammar and punctuation and capitalization. Telling the OP that they wouldn't help him unless he rewrote everything.

No from when it ran I've pulled the fuel line and tank after it ran.

Just found a lot of gas in the oil
Fuel pump. The rubber diaphragm inside the pump goes bad after getting old or sitting.

30 dollar part.

20 minute install. Just make sure it comes with a gasket and you get one if it doesn't.

Na the carb that's on it is junk. It's pouring fuel in. Not gonna say the pumps not leaking but it's more in the carb. Although it did start up last night so I'm making progress

Think the motor was just tight from the gas in the oil but we got it cranked over I replaced the carb today and runs like a champ
